This beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Custom is the ultimate Pro Street build with a Sonny's Racing 615 V8 pushing 1023 horsepower. Yes, this car has over 1000HP and runs on pump gas. As the original VIN number and Trim tag indicate this car was built as an 8 cylinder coupe on the 3rd week of March in Van Nuys, California. It had a Lemans Blue exterior with a black vinyl top and a black standard bucket seat interior. From the information gathered this car was a RS/SS with a 396/350 “L34” engine. The car spent its life in California prior to a rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2015. The car was purchased by its previous owner in 2020 who drastically improved the car mechanically investing over $100,000 in parts and labor. It was completed in 2024 and has been driven less than 100 miles which includes two passes at the Great Lakes Dragway located in Union Grove, Wisconsin. The car ran a quarter mile in 9.010 seconds at 151.56 MPH and in 8.230 seconds at 167.28 MPH on NOS. The engine dyno sheet and time slips are included. The previous owner contacted Marc Schiliro about purchasing it so he could finish a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Custom he's been working on. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car in June of 2025 and July of 2025 is the first time it's been listed for sale.
The exterior of this 1969 Camaro is striking with its iconic factory design and beautiful color combination. From the information gathered it was a rust-free car prior to the restoration. It retains all of its original sheet metal with exception of the 4” cowl fiberglass hood which was added recently to accommodate the new engine. The straight body was excellent gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid operate very nicely. The car was refinished in its original color of Lemans Blue which dresses it perfectly. The paint was decorated with black racing stripes which were buried under the clear coat. The rear tail panel was refinished in the correct shade of black. The show quality paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The front windshield has been replaced new. The door glass, quarter glass and rear windshield is in very good original condition. All of the glass was recently professionally tinted and looks excellent. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced news such as the stainless trim, drivers side mirror, front grill, front bumper, lower lights, front spoiler, fender trim, door handles, lower rocker moldings, rear quarter trim, tail light bezels, rear bumper and emblems which include Camaro, RS and Rally Sport. It's equipped with electric headlight covers and halo LED lights. It's also equipped with LED fog lights. Rear mini tubs were added recently to accommodate the larger tires. The car has a killer stance on 15” Weld Racing forged wheels that have a black center and polished lip. The front wheels are mounted to Mickey Thompson Sportsman Street Radial 27 x 6 x 17 tires. The rear wheels are mounted to Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial 295-65-15 tires. The wheels and tires were also added recently. An extra set of rear 15” Weld Racing forged wheels with beadlocks and MT slicks. Please note this car doesn't have windshield wipers and the rear driver's side stripe is 1” narrower than the rear passenger side stripe.
The interior of this 1969 Camaro is the perfect blend of original and custom. It's equipped with a professionally installed 6-point black roll cage with swing outs. Everything in the interior has been restored or replaced such as the headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, gauges, steering wheel, door sill plates, door panels, door hardware, front bucket seats, rear seat, rear package shelf, center console and carpeting. The center console is dressed with wood trim and has a storage compartment. Some of the custom features include the parachute controls, Autometer gauges, shift light, Cheetah SCS shifter, Race Quip seat belts, gas pedal, Camaro carpeted floor mats, custom buttons and switches. The trunk compartment was refinished in the correct trunk splatter paint. It's equipped with a LED light for better visibility. The trunk compartment houses the 15 lbs. NOS bottle along with a 20 stainless fuel tank with AN fittings, braided hoses and Aeromotive fuel pump. Most of the custom features were recently added.
The engine compartment is very detailed throughout with all new parts. The firewall was soothed and refinished in satin black along with the inner fenders. The radiator support was refinished in body color. Everything in the engine compartment was added recently. This car is powered by a fuel injected Sonny's Racing 615 V8 that was dyno tested with 1013hp. From the information gathered this engine was over $40,000 with the options. Some of the parts include a Brodix aluminum block, 4340 internally balanced Bryant Racing billet crank, Carrillo steel rods, Wiseco forged pistons, SAR/Brodix “Pro Stock” 14.5 degree aluminum heads with Manley valves, T&D shaft mounted rocker system, billet roller timing set, SAR custom roller camshaft, Jesel cam belt drive system, Isky roller lifters, Trend pushrods, 1x4 cast aluminum intake manifold, ATI balancer, internal Moroso billet pump with Moroso oil pan, Weldon fuel filter, Mezier electric water pump, Sonny's aluminum valve covers, MSD crank trigger distributor, Moroso wires, MSD platinum starter, 200amp alternator, SAR installed NOS fogger and Big Stuff EFI with run map. The engine is cooled by a Be Cool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and a Be Cool aluminum overfill canister. The engine breathes through custom made ceramic coated Lemons Headers and 3.5” SS exhaust with Spin Tech mufflers and Magnaflow exhaust tips. It's equipped with electric exhaust cutouts which are fully operational. The engine is coupled to a Neil Chance built Turbo 400 with billet internals which was rated at 1800hp. It's equipped with a Neil Chance custom torque converter with trans brake. The power is transferred to a built 12-bolt POSI rear end with 35 spline Moser axles, 4.10 Pro Gears and Moser cover. The electrical power is sourced from a Antigravity Battery with electric gauge.
The undercarriage is also very detailed throughout with all new parts. The floors were refinished in satin black texture paint for durability. It's equipped with frame connecters and a rear Cal Trac kit. Some other suspension components include Hotchkis upper and lower control arms, AFCO front coil over shocks and AFCO rear shocks. It's also equipped with rack and pinion steering. The braking system consists of a Wilwood master cylinder, front Wilwood 6-piston calipers, rear Wilwood 4-piston calipers, Wilwood drilled and slotted rotors. It's also equipped with removable parachute which is included.
