Welcome to Street Dreams as we celebrate our 26th year in the
classic and muscle car business. The Sunbeam Tiger was a
high-performance version of the British Rootes Group's Sunbeam
Alpine roadster, a sweet 4-cylinder sports car whose competition
included MGs and Alfas. U.S. West Coast sales manager Ian Garrad
settled on Ford's 260 V8 as a good fit that would lift the Tiger
into performance car territory. Sunbeam asked THE Carroll Shelby to
produce a functional prototype and the rest, as they say, is
history. Glorious but short lived, the Tiger's production ceased in
1967 when Rootes was purchased by Chrysler, who obviously wasn't
going to sell a car with a Ford engine. This authentic, highly
original British Racing Green (86) 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Mark 1A is an
outstanding example of these historically important and rare
machines. Lift the functional scooped hood and you'll find the
original, correct (C4OE-6015B) Ford 260 V8 that's been treated to
LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) 1 specs with an Edelbrock F4B aluminum
intake manifold and a Holley 4bbl carburetor. In 2019, the engine
was rebuilt, bored, and balanced as well as fitted with larger
valves and Pertronix electronic ignition. Additional features
include rack and pinion steering, power front disc brakes, original
4-speed manual transmission (HEHE013853), correct bucket seats with
half-console, correct and beautiful walnut dash, full
instrumentation, a beautiful Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, and BSW
tires (185/65R14) wrapped around VTO alloy wheels. This rust-free
gem has had the trunk floor replaced due to battery acid rot and
all other panels are good. A new wiring harness, new Robbins top,
new carpet, door panels, and upholstery as well as rechromed
brightwork make this jewel sparkle. Documentation includes a
Certificate of Authenticity from the Coventry Transport Museum. One
more top-shelf rarity from the team that can make your dream a
reality. Shoe phone and agent 99 not included. Street Dreams
(830-997-1950) is a full service dealership that can assist with
worldwide delivery, insurance, and financing options.
