West Coast Classics are proud to present this factory High
Performance 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 428/335HP CJ V8 'Q' Code (non
ram air) 2 Door Hardtop. The 428 is original to the car as is the
C6 transmission. Car has original 'Black Leather Bucket Seats
Interior' (trim code 6A) interior, headliner, carpet, vinyl top
& and original 'Dark Ivy Green' (C code) factory color
paint, and a new trunk liner. The car has seen a recent restoration
where any parts that were in good shape were left, but any
damage/worn parts were replaced. Newer Magnum 500 wheels &
BF Goodrich tires. Bumpers and any chrome body trim peaces were
re-chromed. Non stock upgrades: Hood scoop, Pertronix ignition,
electric sequential light controller, Caltracs traction bars. 9"
stock rear end with correct nodular iron housing was recently
rebuilt with 3.25 polished Yukon ring and pinion gears & an
Eaton Truetrac differential. Car currently has a motor 1 digital
radio but the original radio will be included in the sale. The XR-7
model brought a simulated wood-grained dashboard with a full set of
black-faced competition instruments and toggle switches, an
overhead console, a T-type center automatic transmission shifter
(if equipped with the optional Merc-O-Matic transmission), and
leather or vinyl upholstery. This particular car must be seen and
driven to be fully appreciated - a superb example of the Cougar
XR-7 with the very desirable upgrade with the CJ 428 engine, the
largest of the Cougar engines offered in 1969 and rated at 335HP
with or without Ram Air - a very honest car which still turns heads
wherever she goes. The engine is extremely strong and responsive
and sounds absolutely magnificent, the transmission shifts smoothly
through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool.
There are no signs of any accidents and absolutely no rust. This is
one very rare and documented 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 CJ428 V8
Hardtop in this very desirable original color combination and a
wonderful daily driving example of this increasingly collectible
and desirable Cougars in turn-key ready daily driving &
daily head-turning condition! This particular example was ordered
and built in Dearborn, MI with a Denver District Sales office and
sold new at 'Bountiful Motor Sales Inc' of Bountiful, UT and
