Vehicle Description
2010 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS Coupe
There was quite a buzz in the automotive world when the fifth
generation Camaro took to the streets. In any trim level they were
new and different and cool, retaining just enough retro styling to
please Camaro fans while introducing modern conveniences and in the
SS versions, a big engine and notable performance. There was no
hiatus between generation five and six and as the Camaro
progressed, first year gen five cars have become potential classics
with each passing year.
For consignment, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS coupe with a title
verified 9,390 actual miles. This pampered Chevy is a two owner
ride and will come to you with the original window sticker. It was
the recipient of a Silver Award at the Camaro Nationals which, for
the past three years, has been hosted at Classic Auto Mall.
Exterior
It's the matte black stripe over the hood that first catches your
eye as it envelopes the scoop on the nose and travels back to
accentuate the slight rise in the hood. The recessed headlights
flanking a black grille make for an aggressive face while the
quarter panels give another nod to the 1969 model with subtle side
vent indentations. Fog lights and a lower grille recall Trans Am
race cars and are an impressive sight in the rearview mirror, just
before your move right on the highway. The tall body gives way to
narrow windows and steeply raked windshield and back window.
20-inch 5-spoke wheels grow four inches from the prior generation
cars and instantly create a more modern profile, wearing staggered
sized Firestones. The wide rear view is aggressive as well with
dual tail lights and dual exhaust that emerge from the black
valance. A single ding makes up the entire list of exterior
imperfections we note.
Interior
Molded black plastic creates a clean, monochromatic presentation on
the door panels, both in excellent condition. Sport bucket seats
combine gray cloth inserts and charcoal sides while SS is
emblazoned on the headrest in white. Rear 2+2 seats repeat the
pattern and have better than average side and seat bolstering
considering they are back seats. A fat leather wrapped steering
wheel is sculpted to the hands, while a purposeful but simple twin
gauge pod is in front and between them, a digital screen read out.
The center stack radio and heater/AC controls glow with blue and
red coloration while four square gauges are down below, canted up
for viewing, and a solid recall to the first gen Camaros. The radio
is an AM/FM/CD unit with XM readiness and Bluetooth. In the center
console, a beefy shifter with black handle over a black leather
boot with white stitching resides and all in immaculate condition.
Low pile gray carpet covers the floor, and a gray headliner is up
above along with the overhead console. The trunk is lined in gray
cloth and is perfect.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, plastic panels give an appropriate muscular look to
the 6.2 liter LS3 V8, cranking out 400 horsepower and mated to a
Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission. Power is routed to the
rear axle, of course, where we find 3.45 gears in a limited slip
differential. Power disc brakes are on board with red calipers now
shining through the wheel gaps.
Undercarriage
Wax pencil markings and assembly line stickers bode well for the
low mileage and the underside is nearly showroom fresh with only a
touch of surface rust creeping in. The dual exhaust now runs
through FlowMaster mufflers although the original mufflers are
available from the consignor. Suspension consists of coil springs
up front and 4.5 link in the back and both ends are
independent.
Drive-Ability
As you would expect from a garaged, sub 10k mile vehicle, this one
leaves us with no discernable demerits in terms of performance,
cleanliness, and functionality. Everything worked as intended and
we feather it back to the mall to prevent one piece of sand from
touching the paint. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
This stunning Camaro arrived here just in time! The Camaro
Nationals take place July 18th and 19th so there will be hundreds
of Camaro enthusiasts who will enjoy its presence, and even in a
sea of 600 Camaros, this one presents as nearly showroom fresh.
Will this be your entry into next year's Nationals, returning it to
the podium as a mostly original fifth gen 1SS? We hope so!
