This 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was first delivered to McSherry Ford Sales Inc. in Spencer, Massachusetts. It is said to have spent approximately 46 years with a previous owner, who performed a stunning Show Condition restoration from top to bottom. This Mach 1 has been meticulously restored to show level and shows very well and is highly detailed. Many many parts, bolts, fasteners, braces, brackets, etc. have been re plated to a show level. It was specified in Ivy Glow over Avocado vinyl upholstery and was optioned with a 351ci Cleveland V8, a Select-Shift Cruise-o-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, a Traction-Lok differential, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, the Deluxe Bumper Group, a center console, and the Mach 1 Sport Interior. Additional equipment includes a four-barrel carburetor, rear traction bars, a custom dual exhaust system, front and rear spoilers, 14″ steel wheels with polished covers, and an AM/FM radio. This Mach 1 comes with a dealer invoice, manufacturer’s literature, the original radio, owners manual, a car cover and a clean Ohio title stating the miles as "Actual."
The car was delivered from the factory in Ivy Glow (4C) and was refinished to a high level. There is zero rust anywhere around this car and no bubbling paint or cracked paint. Features include a vented hood with a silver center stripe, a front spoiler, a Mach 1 grille, racing side mirrors, a rear spoiler, splash guards, Mach 1 graphics, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 14″ steel wheels feature polished hub caps and trim rings and are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering and rear air shocks, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The suspension has been modified with traction bars in the rear. The brakes work very well and stop as they should.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in Avocado vinyl. Interior appointments include an upgraded AM/FM 8 track radio, a floor-mounted center console, an analog clock, and a heater.
The steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a fuel-level gauge. Auxiliary readouts for monitoring oil pressure, charge status, and coolant temperature are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 84,915 miles, The toggle switches are to turn on the map light and lower lights independently.
The H-code 351ci Cleveland V8 was factory rated at 177 horsepower and has been modified with a four-barrel carburetor, electronic ignition, and long-tube headers. Recent service has included replacing the starter and battery as well as performing an oil change.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a Traction-Lok differential. A custom dual exhaust system has been fitted.
The copy of the dealer invoice shows initial delivery to McSherry Ford Sales Inc. in Spencer, Massachusetts, as well as factory equipment and a suggested retail price of $4,053.
