Stunning 1968 Firebird 400 with ram Air
EXTERIOR: This is one good looking Firebird. The body and paint work is outstanding, every panel is straight and smooth right down to the very bottom. No rust or damage, it fits right too. It has the good looking dual scooped Firebird 400 hood. Repainted its original Verdoro Green and I can tell you it didnt look this good when it was new! The metal flake is laid out evenly and the clear coat is polished like glass. All of the chrome is perfect and straight. I love the arrowhead marker lights on the quarter panels. The black vinyl top looks new, there’s not a chip or ding to found anywhere.
She is riding on here original Rally II rims with new Firestone redline tires.
INTERIOR: It is completely original and perfect inside and features a deluxe interior. This includes the burlwood trim, molded door panels and more. The carpet was removed the whole floor dyna matted and the carpet was replaced with new. Other features include the center console, factory Am-Fm radio. The dash area is pristine a perfect. Are you starting to get the theme. 160 mph speedometer.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is completely restored and highly detailed to factory specifications. Professionally rebuilt 400 was bored .30 over and balanced. It has stock manifolds, Holly sniper EFI makes this baby start and run like a dream. For you #s matching guys I still have all the original parts and they will come with the car. This car had all the ram air components shipped with the car from the factory and added on at the dealership. All the brackets and pulleys are restored, the alternator is new. It also features new power steering and power brake units. I added period correct front disc brakes. So it looks stock but stops much better than the old drums. It runs cool with the correct shroud and a heavy duty 4 core radiator. It is complete down to the correct decals, the squirters are hooked up, it has reproduction battery cables and hose clamps. All the metal finishes are painted very smooth and tidy.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very nicely detailed and complete! Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted slick like the car, the decal and weatherstrip have been replaced. Inside is clean metal with a nice spatter finish and has a new mat and well liner. It even has a restored jack, space saver spare including the air bottle.
UNDERSIDE: The body was taken off the frame and underneath the car was completely restored. The front end steering and suspension was completely rebuilt. Upgraded with KYB gas shocks at all for corners. The rear suspension has new bushings. All new fuel system including the tank and lines. Completely rebuilt brake system with disc in front, new e-brake cables, lines, and hoses. It has a stainless steel dual exhaust and splitter tips. Looking up at the motor it is spotless, the starter looks new. I added a teemed 5 speed to give better gear ratios along with a new rebuilt 3.55 posi, the perfect gear for having fun at the light and still being able to cruise down the highway. It has an M20 Muncie 4-speed transmission which looks fresh including the linkage tucked away in the garage that’s part of the package.
I have had it regularly serviced at a shop in Bellingham Wa. Called heavy metal, if you have any questions I can reach out to them to answer or connect you. I don’t want them bombarded with phone calls so serious buyers only please if a phone call is needed.
Simply put I have had this car for 10 years and for personal reasons sadly I have to move on.
It’s truly a stunning perfect example of a 1968 Firebird. If you want a car that is 100% ready to go once you get it. This is the one it’s that nice.
