The C/K series introduced by Chevrolet in 1960 was a direct
competitor to the Ford F series and went on to become legendary in
the classic truck world. These pickups are some of the most popular
for truck collectors with entire clubs and events catered
specifically to these models. The "C" denoted 2 wheel drive and the
following numbers would indicate their payload and towing capacity.
The C20 was the heavier-duty 3/4 ton so there is no doubt that it
would be the base for what is known as the Camper Special. Why
throw a tent in the back of the truck and rough it out camping when
you can drive up with a ready to go home away from home? This very
cool 1966 Chevrolet has everything you could ask for. A vintage,
nostalgic look plus a fully decked out camper on the back! Starting
with the exterior, the truck is in great shape. The cab is painted
in White with the camper in back painted a combination of White
with nostalgic Teal Green accents. All of the steel is in great
shape throughout with no rust or issues. Wide view adjustable
mirrors are mounted to each side which are a great help when
rolling down the road. The truck measures in with a height of 10
ft, length of 22 ft, and width of 8 ft 4 in. It has the standard
chrome front bumper and grill which have a nice shine. The glass is
in great condition throughout and the camper features windows on
all sides. On the back are 2 spares with covers and a heavy duty
ladder to lead you to the 7 ft x 9 ft sun deck that was constructed
with 3/4 in plywood. The White steel 8 lug wheels have 16 inch
tires and the split rims were replaced for safety.
Moving this awesome machine down the road is a 350 V8 motor that
has been upgraded with electronic ignition and a 4 barrel Edelbrock
carburetor. The engine has plenty of power to get this thing
rolling smoothly. It is paired with a 4 speed manual transmission
and a positraction rear end. The brakes on it are all good and are
power assisted. Under the hood and truck cab carpet a sound
deadening material has been added to soften down the road noise. It
is a good driver and ready to take you out on your next
adventure!
Before we get to the fun part lets visit the cab interior. It has a
nicely upholstered bench seat with lap belts and is in good
condition. The all metal dash board has a mostly stock layout with
the original gauges that all work. A Rampage AM/FM/Cassette player
has been added and is the only real modification to the original
dash. The floor is nicely carpeted and where you will find the
shifter. Moving into the Camper section you will find nicely
restored wood paneling throughout and tons of cabinet space as well
as 2 large closets. It has a sleeping area that extends over the
cab and the dining room table will also convert into a bed. While
you are out camping you have all you need with a kitchen sink (with
high rise faucet) refrigerator, fan furnace, ceiling vent, bathroom
sink, flushing/recycling toilet, shower, double bed with mattress,
110 outlets, and a 3 burner stove with oven. What more could you
ask for?
Why go tent camping or even in just your regular camper when you
could do it with some vintage flair? This thing is sure to go quick
so jump on it while it is still available.
It is being offered up for the very reasonable price of
$24,500.00!
This vehicle is located in West Virginia.
