Vehicle Description
Original 1959 Mercedes 300D 'ADENAUER' Saloon This 1959
Mercedes-Benz 300D is a highly original example that's been in
storage awaiting a straightforward restoration. Black with red
interior. The original leather, wood trim, and headliner are good
but it's missing its dashboard. Not currently running. An overall
straight, solid, and honest car with a lot of potential. Considered
the Maybach of its time, the 300 saloon succeeded in marking a
return to the marque's tradition of building high-performance
luxury automobiles of the finest quality. The 300 featured the
3.0-litre six-cylinder engine also used in the 300SL. A 3-speed
automatic transmission was standard on the 300D. The 300 was
luxuriously appointed and trimmed with materials of the highest
quality. Fast and elegant, it was one of very few contemporary
vehicles capable of carrying six passengers in comfort at sustained
high speeds. 'Adenauer' became its unofficial model name, after
German Chancellor Dr Konrad Adenauer, its most famous customer.
