This well-preserved 1982 Corvette shows 42,500 miles on the
odometer and is believed to be correct. The current owner states
she purchased the car from a GM employee in 1986, and it has been
carefully driven and maintained during her long ownership. Finished
in an attractive and rare two-tone color scheme of Silver Blue and
Dark Blue (factory paint code 24/26), this Corvette is loaded with
luxury amenities that make the final 1982 cars the most comfortable
of all the C3 series cars produced. Some of the welcome creature
comforts on this Corvette include rich-looking dark blue (trim code
221) leather seats, power windows, tilt and telescopic steering
column, cold air conditioning, power antenna and the original Delco
AM/FM/cassette player still in place. A set of snug-fitting
transparent removable T-tops make the interior seem more spacious
and look fantastic on the outside. This Corvette rolls on its
attractive factory optional and original cast aluminum wheels with
white-lettered B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
1982 was the last year of the classic body style that was
introduced in 1968 (the C3 Series) as well as the frame that was
introduced in 1963. No manual transmission cars were built this
year, the first time since 1955. The new "Cross-Fire" fuel
injection introduced on this car has fuel injectors making up to 80
adjustments per second to enhance drivability and fuel economy.
This was the first fuel injected Corvette in 20 years, it also
raised horsepower by 10. A solenoid operates a small flap in the
hood allowing fresh air into the engine during full-throttle
acceleration. A new for 1982 4-speed automatic transmission also
added to the Corvettes drivability. 1982 was the first year a
Corvette base price exceeded $20,000.
