Here's a pretty popular year and model Galaxie. Great color combination of Raven Black over a red bench seat interior. Factory coded and correct. Under the hood lies the optional 390 V8 too! Doesn't get a whole lot better than this combination, does it? This car, like so many we see here at the garage is being sold to help settle an estate. Owned and driven regularly up until 2022, the car has mostly sat in a garage since. We were able to bring her back to life with little effort but there is no question, this car will need some immediate attention to be regularly driven gain. Thankfully none of it is out of reach for the average mechanically inclined. The car starts, runs and drives. Brakes are spongy but do the job. No abnormal noises or smoke from the 390, it actually runs terrific. Looks to have had a somewhat recent tune-up. Transmission shifts right into gear with no hesitation and seems to perform well. The car appears to have been lightly restored decades ago. The paint is old but will come back well with a buffing wheel and some elbow grease, I can almost guarantee it. We just washed it, that's all and it looks good. All the chrome and trim appear original and show their age but are very presentable as is. The interior, other than the front carpet seems to be original with obvious wear with several seam splits and discoloration. Usable as is but I'd probably throw some aftermarket seat covers over them for a cleaner appearance. The dash is in good shape. The original AM radio is still in place with a 1980's looking under dash unit installed. Neither seem to work. The fuel gauge also doesn't appear to work but the speedometer does. The rest are idiot lights. Those have not been tested. Lights and wipers work. The white top is tired. It's original glass rear window has become completely unattached from the top and the top itself is soiled and ripped in places. I'd have a black top installed with a less expensive clear plastic rear window. Yes, there is some rust but nothing seriously affecting the structural integrity of the car. See the pics in the gallery below for more details on that. A few small holes at the very front of the frame behind both front wheels. A Saturday afternoon with a good welder would handle that. The rest of the frame is super solid and clean. The undercarriage overall is pretty good in my estimation. I've seen worse. Much worse. Trunk is mostly clean with just a few miniscule pin holes at the rear body panel. So this is a car you can put as little or as much as you want into. I'd do the bare minimum (Starting with a set of tires as they appear VERY old.) and maybe a top, then just drive and enjoy it as is. Depending on your skill, you can go further. I just wouldn't recommend paying someone to restore it completely. Like I say all the time, if you are going to do that, buy one done already! That being said, this is a terrific way to enter the hobby without breaking the bank. A big bonus on this one is that it's a super desirable car so any time you do spend making it better, will probably pay off financially. Before you ask, NO I would not recommend driving this car cross country as is. I can transport it pretty cheaply. Check out the gallery of photos. Ask questions and come inspect it yourself or send a friend. I don't want to raise or lower anyone's expectations...
