Vehicle Description
The C3 sits among the most loved generations of the Corvette. Its
sinewy Coke bottle shape is unmistakable and turns heads anywhere
it goes. Today, we have a magnificent example of a late-model C3
for you in this 1980 Chevrolet Corvette L48. With just 33,384
(believed) actual miles on its odometer, this car looks almost as
good as the day it rolled off the assembly line. Decked out in its
original Frost Beige color, the 1980 'Vette used lighter fiberglass
body panels along with an aluminum differential and crossmember to
provide a serious reduction in weight. Thankfully, the iconic
T-tops are still intact and work wonderfully.
Inside, we find a Doe Skin leather/vinyl/cloth interior featuring a
set of supportive and comfortable bucket seats separated by a
full-length center console, complete with dual cup holders. A small
three-spoke, power-assisted, padded steering wheel sits in front of
an 85 mph speedometer and a 7,000 rpm tachometer. The signature
five-pod auxiliary gauge cluster sits atop the center stack, while
an upgraded AM/FM radio equipped with Bluetooth takes place of the
original unit without looking out of place. The sliding HVAC
controls are easy to use, and the air conditioning blows cold
whenever it gets too hot to enjoy open air driving.
Under that classic front-hinged hood, we find a numbers-matching
350 cubic-inch L48 V-8 engine. Topped with a single four-barrel
Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, this small block V-8 pumped out a
respectable 190 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 280 pound-feet of
torque at 2,400 rpm when it was new. That power is routed through a
TH350 three-speed automatic transmission before being transferred
to the rear end via a 3.08-geared rearend, and then to the tarmac
via a set of fifteen-inch alloy wheels wrapped in P225/70R-15
BFGoodrich tires.
