To celebrate both the 25th anniversary of the 911 and the final year of the beloved G-Model, Porsche unveiled the limited-production 1989 911 Speedster-a striking tribute to the original 356 Speedster and a bold statement in its own right. First previewed as the Speedster Studie at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show, the production version retained the concept's raked wraparound windshield, double-hump clamshell tonneau cover, and exciting minimalistic character. Though based on the Carrera 3.2, most Speedsters were constructed using the Turbo's wider bodywork, giving the car an aggressive stance accentuated by 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Power came from Porsche's 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six, mated to the refined G50 five-speed manual transmission delivering a visceral top-down driving experience. Chief designer Tony Lapine ensured the styling carried cues from the 356 while remaining true to the modern 911 form.

Produced in June of 1989 and originally sold at Auto Hamer Porsche of Montreal, Canada, the VINAnalytics Report for this Triple Black 911 Speedster reveals it was optioned with a raised hub steering wheel, short shifter, heavy-duty windshield cleaner, and air conditioning. Well-known exotic car dealer John Scotti acquired the car just a year later in 1990 with approximately 300 kilometers on the odometer. During Scotti's 19-year ownership the car remained in a highly preserved state with just 528 kilometers or 328 miles added by the time of the third owner's acquisition in January 2009.

That third owner was none other than noted Porsche collector and comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld is well-known for a Porsche collection that begins with the earliest production models built in Gmnd, Austria, spanning to the latest limited-production models. For the Porsches Seinfeld didn't order directly from the factory, only the finest examples would suffice-and this 1989 911 Speedster was no exception. It is expected that Seinfeld was smitten with the car's high degree of originality when found retaining its generous coating of factory-applied undercarriage Cosmoline and still resting on its original BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires. Its clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows that Seinfeld retained the Speedster for 14 years, adding an additional 1,729 miles to the total. During his ownership the car visited Beverly Hills Porsche for servicing and prior to it leaving his collection it received a $2,733 service that included an engine oil change, new fuel and air filters, a new windshield washer pump, a brake fluid flush, new brake lines, and a new engine insulation sound pad. Additionally, the car received a fresh set of Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires with receipts on file for the aforementioned work.

Acquired by the consignor directly from Seinfeld in November 2023, the limited-production 911 left California for the first time since 2009 joining a collection of collectible performance cars. In that time, just 202 kilometers have been added to the odometer, and as a result, it remains in the same exceptional condition as preserved by both Scotti and Seinfeld since 1990. This Speedster includes its toolkit, jack, tire inflator, owner's manual and rare Speedster supplement in wallet, and service records from Seinfeld's time with the car. Offered for just a single model year, the 1989 Speedster remains one of the most collectible and visually distinctive 911s ever produced-with this ex-Seinfeld owned and driven example surely one of the best preserved of its type.
