Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1973 Porsche 914. Finished
in signal orange over black interior, this 914 presents to a nice
driver standard throughout. Originally a 1.7, the engine was
rebuilt with a big bore kit under prior ownership. Garage kept
under local enthusiast ownership since 2022 - selling only due to a
loss of covered parking. Body is straight and finish quality is
excellent with only a few minor flaws; excellent glass, seals and
targa top. Tidy front and rear trunk. Interior presents well with
only minor wear; attractive black and orange coco mats are a nice
upgrade. All gauges, lights, horn, wipers, etc. are working
properly. Factory wheels in good condition are wearing Kumho tires
with nearly full-depth tread remaining.
The mid-engine design of the 914 makes for a remarkably
well-balanced car with excellent handing characteristics; the
air-cooled horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine is fed by dual
Weber carburetors. Distributor has been upgraded with Pertronix
electronic ignition. The big bore kit brings displacement to
1910cc, nearly identical to the 2.0L displacement of 1971cc
(performance is also quite similar). Recent service includes a
valve adjustment and front brakes (including new lines and rebuilt
calipers). Starts easily and runs and drives well. The gearbox
feels good with no crunchy synchros, and the shift linkage is well
adjusted with no sloppiness.
