Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this numbers matching 1978
Camaro Type LT in excellent driver condition with only 52,495
original miles. This car runs well, drives great, and has great
lines; one can even see how clean the car is underneath in the
photos below of the car on a lift. This Camaro is very original,
totally stock, unmodified, and unmolested. This is an excellent
opportunity to own a classic Camaro that is ready to be used and
enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now
and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as
these second-generation F-Body Camaros are appreciating fast and
the market on them is red hot right now.
The Camel (63) over Tan Cloth (62C) interior is a very rare and
beautiful color combination that looks stunning on the car. It is
also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes
on the trim tag, which is pictured in this ad.
Besides the correct paint and interior codes this Camaro is
"numbers matching" meaning the engine in the car is the original
unit that was installed new at the factory in Norwood, OH in March
of 1978. Even detailed parts like the carburetor, intake manifold,
alternator, and even all the glass is date coded and original. The
last six digits of the VIN, 576602, are stamped on the engine pad
and pictured in this ad verifying it as the original engine.
The very low original mileage is verified not only by the condition
of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, the
shows the milage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos,
numbers, video, and information in this ad to get a true sense of
clean, nice, and original this Camaro really is.
As a side note, this Camaro is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Camaro, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Camel (63) exterior is in nice driver condition. As one can see
in the photos, the paint has a fine gloss. The chrome and other
bright work look great overall with a brilliant finish. The rally
wheels are in great condition with a nice finish and no curd rash.
The Hoosier raised white letter tires have plenty of tread left,
are sized 205/70R14, and are older. There are no major
imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the
photos. As one would expect from a paintjob with this many years on
it there are some blotchy spots, some dents and dings, and other
tiny blemishes that were too faint to show up in the photos, but
overall the car looks very nice for its age. As one can see in the
many photos of the underside, the car is clean underneath. We have
included specific photos of the spring perches, rockers, lower
quarter panels, upper area of the trunk below the rear window, and
other areas most prone to rust on a second-generation Camaro to
show how it looks.
Window Date Codes
Please note that ALL of the glass on this Camaro both pieces of
door glass, the rear window, and even the windshield all date coded
and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of
the fourth week of March, 1978 (03D). Original glass is a good
indication that this car has had no major accident history and
never sustained significant damage.
Interior
The Tan Cloth (62C) interior of the Camaro is in fantastic
condition. The seats look just as great in person as they do in the
photos with no rips, split seams, or excessive wear. The seats are
not overly worn in the typical area on the bolster where the driver
gets in and out. Please note that these appear to be the original
seats and skins, not some cheap aftermarket covers or replacements.
The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the gauge lenses are clear.
The carpet is in great condition with no major stains, rips, or
holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The
door panels are in wonderful condition overall and fit well to the
doors. The door pulls are solid and in tact. The dash looks great
with no splits, sun fading, or cracks; it is a bit warped on the
front edge as one can see in the photos. The center console lid has
some cracks where the driver's elbow sits. The original 8-track
radio works well and gets good reception. Most importantly, the
dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket
installation. Please note that both seat belts work and retract
properly. This is a common problem on second generation Camaros and
an issue many buyers do not think to check. The original package
tray is not warped. The headliner is in excellent condition and not
sagging at all.
The truck is clean, complete, and nicely detailed. The original
jack, jack handle, jack base, trunk mat, and spare are all still
with the car.
Camaro interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the
excellent condition of this original interior is a huge testament
to the meticulous care and attention this car has received
throughout its life and another great verification of the very low
original mileage.
Mechanical
This Camaro is in seems to be in good mechanical condition. The
numbers matching engine starts right away every time, runs well,
and idles smooth. This Camaro is a nice driver that feels great on
the road. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating
on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears,
braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note
that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs
quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to
one side or the other. The transmission shifts well throughout the
power band. This Camaro has plenty of power and is quite fast.
Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed,
correct, and original as one can see in the photos. The original
air cleaner, stamped steel valve covers, intake duct, and catalytic
converter are all still in place.
The horn works as do the wipers, exterior lights, interior lights,
dash lights, oil light, fasten seat belt light, hazard lights,
cigarette lighter, remote trunk release, and rear window defogger
on both speeds. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all
speeds. Even detailed items work like the trunk light and glove box
light. All of the gauges work with the exception of the clock and
the tachometer. The air conditioning does not blow cold. Not enough
can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this
car.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1978 Camaro Type LT is in excellent condition. The
unmolested originality, numbers matching engine, and the beautiful
color scheme make this car particularly desirable and hard to
duplicate. Original and unmolested examples of the
second-generation Camaros like this Type LT are extremely difficult
to find and draw a huge premium in the current market. Numbers
matching and originality is extremely important in Camaro pricing
and as one can see this car is very original and correct. Cars like
this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future.
This Camaro always gets a ton of attention driving down the road.
