1982 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista
VIN: 1GCCW80H2CR197110
The roadster pickup, first introduced in the 1920s, was the beginning of what would later be known as a “coupe utility”. First produced in Australia, Ford responded to a customer request for "a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays". Chevrolet introduced its coupe utility to the US market in 1959 and 1960 with the El Camino, then reintroduced in 1964 with production running through 1987. Although based on General Motors car lines and platforms, the El Camino is classified as a pickup in the US market.
The Conquista package consisted of a striking paint and molding treatment. The basic body color appears on the roof, and upper portion of pickup box, lower body sides, and tailgate. The center section of the body side, the hood and lower portion of the tailgate are set off by a special accent color.
The Conquista presented at auction is a one family owned car in excellent condition. The interior and exterior present consistent as a driver. Originally purchased new by the parents of the current owner, the car was owned and driven for years in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area. The car odometer shows under 80,000 miles. These miles are believed to be original, but not confirmed. Acquired by the current owner from her parents, the car has been driven and enjoyed.
