Vehicle Description
This car is being sold as part of a VIN sequential package of Twin
Reattas. That being said we are going to market offering this
package to automotive collectors or museums that want to own a very
special part of Buick and GM history. Both cars are matching twins
built on the same day 1 serial number apart. Through chance the
current owner was able to buy and keep these two amazing cars
together. The Reatta program was Buicks last throwback to Hand
Coach Building and there was a lot of pride put into these
automobiles which were at the cutting edge of technology and design
for 1991. Please be prepared to buy both cars together if calling
for information, like below to the other Twin Reatta. Thanks!
Canyon State Classics brings to market a beautiful, low mileage
1991 Buick Reatta convertible from one of our local consignors.
This gorgeous Buick features one of the most highly sought after
color combinations of red with saddle interior and a saddle top. Of
the 305 Reatta convertibles produced in 1991, only 66 were made in
this color and option combination. This car has been loved since
new with only 29k original miles. This Buick has always been
garaged and is in excellent condition, having just undergone a
complete inside and out detail and paint correction.
The car is well maintained with lots of recent maintenance
performed. This special Reatta has a very interesting original
history-it was never sold new to the general public. As soon as
this car was built, it was given to a GM Engineer for testing for
the "GM Electric Group," or the EV1 program. The car was driven
16,500 miles by the engineer from 1991 until 1994, at which point
it was to be scrapped following testing. Instead, Buick's North
America Marketing Manager, Ray Spoth, won the right to purchase the
car in a lottery. He owned the car for a short time before selling
it to business magnate Jack Evans, the former mayor of Dallas, TX.
Following Mayor Evans' ownership, the car was purchased by Chuck
Parry in 1997, a prolific Reatta collector, who absolutely babied
the car for nearly 20 years-making sure it never saw rain or dust.
Chuck wrote an extensive manual on how to care for the car, down to
what detailing products to use. This car was Chuck's pride and joy,
and after he sold it in 2017, it found its way to its current
owner, also a Reatta collector who just so happened to find the
car's identical twin, made one serial number after this car, in
2018.
The following is a list of options as this Reatta is currently
equipped:
-3.8L Tuned Port Injection L27 V6
-Automatic transmission
-16" Alloy Wheels
-Older Set (Original?) Good Year Eagle GA Tires No Cracking
-Power windows
-Automatic climate control
-Flip up headlamps
-Factory dual power sport seats
What makes this car so unique is that it is 91 Reatta convertible
got power pull down for convertible top. ABS portion of brake
system is Bosch for 91, but the brake booster/master cylinder part
is Delco. The "Twilight Sentinel" was added for 91 (actually turns
on your headlights instead of just telling you to turn them on).
Slightly less restrictive exhaust (bigger pies and muffler). 91
also has (and maybe some 90s) different bracing underhood for
convertible shake, it was also the first year for the L27 Tuned
Port 3.8L engine. Many collectors prefer the '91s because they are
the final year of production with all the bugs worked out and more
limited production numbers.
The exterior on the car is absolutely stunning. It boasts the most
desirable color combination for a Reatta, Bright Red on Saddle. The
paint is gorgeous and looks smooth as glass. The original Saddle
soft top looks like new, with zero discoloration or wear visible.
The car is all original paint and has never been hit or damaged.
The body is straight as an arrow with not a single ding. The tires
look to most likely be the second set of tires. OE Spec Good Year
Eagle GA tires with 50% tread remaining and not showing any signs
of dry cracking. Fine for show, should be replaced if you plan to
put miles on the car.
The interior is in incredible shape as it should be being a low
mileage pampered car. The supple Saddle leather seats are still
very nice and look great for being 35 years old. The dash surfaces
are in great shape as well as the carpet throughout. The
electronics in the dash and gauges are all functioning as they
should. Zero known issues on this car
Mechanically, this Buick runs great. This car is smooth and
luxurious, but with the stomp of your foot you can unleash all the
power of the big V6. The motor provides ample power to move the car
around and will easily smoke the tires if you are not careful. The
motor compartment has been detailed and looks showroom fresh. All
in all, this is one of the nicest Reattas I have had on
consignment, and I'm proud to pass it on to its next owner. These
early 90s GM sports cars are just starting to become prized by
collectors, and this example is a super clean, low mileage
car...how can you go wrong?
