Vehicle Description
2011 Dodge Challenger R/T Hardtop
When Stellantis announced the end of production for the modern
muscle cars of Dodge, some panic set in and people undoubtedly went
looking for a last chance internal combustion powered Charger or
Challenger. It didn't take long for them to rethink their strategy
and have updated their direction that now includes the return of
the internal combustion engine. So, from now on, there will be pre
EV cars and post EV cars and the models that came before the shift
will be referred to as the originals, the grandfathers of whatever
modern muscle movement is yet to come!
For consignment, a 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T hardtop with a title
verified 49,791 actual miles. Owned by our consignor for ten years,
this Mopar's striking stripe package and exterior color create a
vibrant exterior that is sure to turn heads wherever it
travels.
Exterior
In keeping with Mopar's distinction of using wild colors with wild
names, here we have Mango Tango Pearl, a distinctive burnt orange
that is just dark enough to be complemented by black features
rather than starkly contrasting with them. They include the strobe
stripes down the sides of the car, bold and dramatic. There's also
the hood stripe, four stripes really, that contour over the hood
bulge around intake nostrils. A front air dam and area spoiler
bookend the car and add muscularity. Meanwhile the 20-inch American
Racing Torque Thrust Special Edition wheels, in glossy black,
provide an eye popping set of shoes. Dual headlights harken back to
the original and immediately cause most of us to move right when we
see them coming, while out back the full width light bar is a
fantastic feature. A flurry of touched up rock chips down low are
the only exterior imperfection.
Interior
While the exterior is bright and vibrant, the interior presents a
nerve calming Dark Slate, monochromatic, and free of distracting
accenting. It begins on the well crafted doors, hard plastic with
leather inserts and controls centered on the armrest. From there,
its robust heated leather bucket seats with tuck and roll inserts
and obvious side support, a pattern mirrored in the back but
tempered for comfort rather than lateral grip. A leather wrapped
steering wheel leads to a panel of white faced gauges, each with a
black bottom and digital readout. The center screen displays the
AM/FM/CD functions as well as navigation and is XM capable and
U-Connect accessible. From there, a simple A/C panel fronts the
center console with automatic shifter in place in its notched
guide, followed by requisite cup holders and storage. Slate carpet
covers the floor cleanly, the headliner around the sunroof is in
great shape, and the trunk is finished in smooth gray cloth
panels.
Drivetrain
Shrouded in plastic, the bay appears clean and houses the venerable
5.7 liter Hemi V8 pumping out an impressive 376 horsepower. It's
mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear
axle with 3.06 gears in a limited slip differential. Only power
disc brakes will do here, and they are present!
Undercarriage
Clean and dry underneath with some typical surface rust of a car
that's been driven, then garaged. Dual exhaust runs through
FlowMaster mufflers before exiting as two, square, chrome tips,
split wide in the rear valance. Independent coil spring suspension
is employed front and back.
Drive-Ability
No surprises here. Great power, a comfortable interior, and
responsive handling. 2011 may have been 14 years ago, but this car
feels modern, secure, and practically new. Inasmuch, all functions
onboard work just as intended, and just like that our dance with
this Mango Tango is over. While Classic Auto Mall represents that
these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
There you have it. A safe, reliable, low mileage, and oh yes, fast
car. Modern Challengers represent one of the most successful retro
returns in the automotive industry. The reintroduction of
aggressive lines and a Hemi engine was a home run for Dodge. That
EV thing? Well, like Mike Tyson says, everyone has a plan until
they get punched in the face. Come get a piece of American muscle
greatness and avoid endless hours at the charging station.
