1956 Mercury Montclair Sports Sedan
On December 1, 1955, Mr. F.G. Neal, of East Point, Georgia, took delivery of his new 1956 Mercury Montclair from Reeves Mercury which was located in the Atlanta area . With options and tax, the list price was price was $4,111.17 which was a large sum for a car in the mid-1950’s. Mr. Neal was able to negotiate a net price of $3019.37. Mr. Neal kept his prized Mercury until at least the late 1960’s and kept a meticulous log book of oil changes and maintenance. This log book and other repair orders document the original mileage at 48K but the Georgia title reads exempt. After Mr. Neal’s ownership the Mercury passed through a few Georgia collectors. Powered by a 312 V-8, it also has Merc-O-Matic (automatic) transmission and tinted glass. Car tops out at a whopping 3,635 pounds. The most recent collector treated it to a major cosmetic restoration including new 2-tone paint, gorgeous chrome plating, as well as new 2-tone interior. This beautiful Mercury come with the original owner’s manual & envelope, ’56 Mercury brochure, Mr. Neal’s log book, and other miscellaneous repair orders to document the Georgia history.
