This 1978 Ford Ranger XLT is also a Free Wheeling Edition which is
confirmed by the Marti Report that is pictured and will come with
the vehicle. This is a really nice, really clean, highly optioned
78 Bronco. The 78 and 79 Broncos are getting really hard to find
and most of them are priced well above $30,000. This particular
Bronco was sold new in California and then went to Oregon so you
know it is a clean and solid rig. The body is extremely clean and
straight. The original color was Dark brown Metallic with Free
Wheeling Stripes. The last owner had it repainted Brown Oxide done
in an Imron Industrial low gloss paint. It looks really cool! The
chrome and stainless is original and nice. It has new door and
tailgate seals, new body mounts, and the underside is super clean.
We found no rust issues with this Bronco.
The interior is also nice and the it has the Saddle Vinyl Seats
with inserts from the factory that appear to be original with the
exception of the driver and passenger insert have been replaced.
The interior floor was bedlined and it has new door panels and dash
cover. The headliner and dash bezel appear to be original and are
still nice. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn
signals are all working. The gauges all work. The horn, heat, and
windshield wipers work. This was a factory AC truck but the AC
components were removed.
mechanically this truck is excellent and it runs and drives great!
The engine is the original 5.8L 351 V8 that runs strong and straits
easily. We found no issues or red flags with the drivetrain.
According to the last owner it was rebuilt around 10 years ago. It
has a stock 2 Barrel carb, newer dual Flowmaster Exhaust, new fuel
pump, new radiator, new alternator, and new starter. The
transmission is the C6 Automatic that shifts great and the last
owner had it rebuilt around 2,000 miles ago. he did not have the
receipt, but you can see that it is new. It is mated to the np205
transfer car that he had resealed at the same time. The 4WD works
like it should. There are also all new u-joints. The rear axle is a
Ford 9" with 4.56 gears and a Detroit locker. The front axle is a
dana 44.with 4.56 gears and a Detroit Tru-Trac. It has a 4 Inch all
spring lift kit with new springs, new shocks, new C bushings, and
new drop pitman arm. This is all sitting on a new set of 17 Inch
steel wheels with newer 37 Inch Mud Terrain tires.
We drive what we sell so that we can give you a first hand and
accurate report on how the vehicle runs and drives. Our pictures
are never touched up or photoshopped. What you see is an accurate
representation of the vehicle. We take consistent pictures and show
