Vehicle Description
Named after Henry Ford's famous estate, "Fairlane", in Michigan the
Ford Fairlane debuted in 1955 as a top of the line full size
automobile and was available in 6 versions all bearing the
signature stainless steel Fairlane stripe down the side. Despite
direct competition from the wildly popular Chevrolet Bel Air, the
Fairlane faired very well against Chevy and other GM offerings.
With its combination of classic good looks, better performance,
greater option list and multiple trim levels, the Fairlane was
poised to grab a sizeable chunk of the full-size car market even in
its first year. Today, Fairlanes of all shapes and sizes are highly
collectable and represent a rapidly appreciating segment of the
investment car marketplace.
Finished in factory correct Inca Gold & Colonial White, with brand
new two-tone white & black interior, this exceptional, and very
rare, Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner with retractable hardtop
represents the first production year for this classic retractable
and demonstrates, perhaps, the pinnacle of 1950's design! With its
exceptional and unequaled use of stainless steel and chrome
accents, its embodiment of the "Long and Low" style of the time,
its fusion of locomotive and aviation design cues-the 1957 Fairlane
500 is certainly among the last great contributions to the legacy
of Art Deco inspired automotive styling produced in the United
States.
Equipped with an upgraded and dependable 352ci V8-4bbl engine &
Fordomatic transmission (both 1959/60 date-cast components),
Master-Guide power steering, MagicAire heater, fender skirts, front
bumper over-riders, working AM radio with manual antenna, single
exterior mirror, new E78-14 Coker Classic wide whitewall tires,
full wheel covers, chrome oval exhaust tips, windshield washers,
clock, and cigarette lighter! This beautifully restored car is
among the nicest and rarest drivable examples available anywhere at
any price. Kept by a meticulous former owner from 1988-2013 as part
of a prized collection, it has traded hands to only one other
longtime collector ever since!
This Fairlane 500 has only seen beautiful days and enjoying the
occasional local car show! The power retractable hardtop is in full
operational order and works wonderfully! It received new brakes &
new weather stripping installed in 2013. A comprehensive service in
August 2020 included new exhaust manifolds, manifold gaskets, new
mounting hardware, along with a new fuel sending unit seal, front
end upper control arm bushings, repacked wheel bearings, and
front-end alignment.
A very nice, collector quality car that is priced at a fraction of
the restoration cost. So do not delay, this car will move fast! It
hasn't been parked outside for a single day or gotten wet in nearly
four decades! All cars are advertised locally and nationally. St.
