Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is proud and excited to present to you this 1968
Ford Mustang. This Mustang is a rolling showcase of craftsmanship
and performance - a beautifully restored Pro-Touring restomod that
blends classic muscle with modern engineering in all the right
ways! This car comes to us draped in stunning show-quality Orange
paint with a wide gloss-black hood panel that accentuates an
aggressive and functional air scoop. Single round Delta headlights
flank a gleaming inset horizontal grille (with no badging) and
beneath lies a mirror-finish chrome bumper. High-quality chrome and
brightwork abound with dual side mirrors, wiper arms, door handles,
and wheel lip molding. Bright window trim serves to accent the
all-new tinted window glass. The stance of this Mustang is perfect
as it sits atop a set of stunning chrome US Mags, all wrapped in
IronMan blackwall radials. Peek through the wheels and find red
Wilwood calipers and drilled & slotted rotors on all 4 corners.
Looking down the side of the car, you can see just how
laser-straight it i,s and further inspection reveals excellent
panel fitment with even body gaps. Around back, there is a large
chrome "Shelby Cobra" gas fill cover that's centered between trios
of chrome-framed taillights with sequential turn signals - a really
cool extra. Down below is a chrome bumper that rivals the one up
front, and protruding from under the notched rear valence are large
chrome exhaust tips that emit a glorious rumble that turns
heads.
The undercarriage of this '68 Mustang is every bit as impressive as
the top side. The entire bottom of the car has been coated with
Lizard Skin, and it looks stellar! There is a new 16-gallon.
Aeromotive gas tank with an in-tank pump and new sender at the rear
of the car. The exhaust is also new and features JBA ceramic-coated
headers, new pipes, and Flowmaster mufflers. The suspension has
been upgraded to a first-rate system with Rod & Custom rear 4-link
coil-over shocks and rear sway bar, and up front is a Rod & Custom
Mustang II suspension with coil-over shocks, sway-bar, rack &
pinion, tubular control arms, and frame ties. All brake lines and
fuel lines are new as well.
Under the hood is truly a sight to behold! The entire engine bay is
the same glossy orange as the exterior, the inner fenders have been
modified for a flat, clean look, and there are high-dollar upgrades
and chrome everywhere. At the heart is a completely rebuilt '94
Ford 351 Windsor punched out 40-over to 358ci with 10.5:1 pistons,
a Trick Flow cam, new bearings & rings, a high volume oil pump and
deep sump oil pan, new timing chain, and 1.6 roller rockers. The
Ford blue V-8 is topped off with aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM
heads, chrome valve covers with Ford Racing logos, an aluminum
Edelbrock Performer intake, a Holley Sniper II EFI system with
Bluetooth-enabled timing control, a Holley Sniper Hyperspark
distributor and coil, and a chrome Ford Racing air cleaner. At the
front of the engine is an aluminum CVF front-runner system that
includes a chrome alternator, a compressor for the new Vintage Air
system, and a CVF power steering unit. Keeping things chill under
the hood is a new 3-core aluminum radiator with dual 12" electric
fans and an aluminum overflow tank. The blue V-8 is mated up to a
brand new Tremec TKX 5-speed manual transmission that puts power to
the pavement via a 9" Ford rear axle with 3.73:1 positraction
gears. In addition to the 5-speed, this Pony was treated to a new
clutch, flywheel, and bell housing. Other highlights under the hood
include new Billet aluminum hood hinges and a Wilwood master
cylinder that ensures that this ride stops as confidently as it
sprints.
Considering the high bar set by the exterior and engine bay, it
should come as no surprise that the interior of this Mustang
received the same amount of attention during the build. When you
open the driver's door, you're greeted by a jaw-droppingly nice
black interior with lots of upgrades and custom extras. The door
panels are done in black vinyl and have a look similar to
OEM-style. A bright chrome "Shelby Automotive" sill plate welcomes
you into the recently redone interior. The high-back multi-textured
black vinyl front bucket seats are in like-new condition, as is the
rear bench seat for two. Separating the front seats is a black
center console with bright trim and a silver band on top traveling
front to back. The console features a rear passenger ashtray, seat
belt holders, and a chrome dog-leg shifter with finger lifts and a
black 5-speed pattern ball. Where the console rises up to become
part of the dash, you'll find a bright ribbed slide-up door that
hides a storage area, and above that - a Custom Autosound
AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo for your cruisin' tunes. The dash itself is
in excellent condition and features a crack-free black vinyl top
and a black gauge bezel framed in bright trim. Set in the bezel are
chrome-ringed Dakota Digital gauges with carbon-fiber backing, and
they look incredible when they light up. There are gauges for fuel
and temp, a speedometer and tachometer, and a digital display area
that's controlled with a button mounted under the dash to the right
of the driver. The odometer reads only 447 miles, and this
represents the mileage since the build was completed. Behind the
dash is a brand new American Autowire wiring harness that ensures
all of the electronics keep working just as they should. Ahead of
the driver is an aftermarket black half-wrap steering wheel with a
pattern on the ring that mimics the carbon-fiber look of the
gauges. The wheel is mounted on a black Ididit tilt column. When
the turn signal is activated, not only do the taillights blink
sequentially, but an arrow lights up in the glass of the
corresponding side mirror - a cool extra. Under the gauge bezel to
the driver's left are OEM-looking slider controls that operate the
Vintage Air system. The A/C is ice-cold, the heat is hot, and the
fan will literally blow your hair back. Ahead of the passenger is a
Mustang badge and a glovebox. Look up to find that an overhead
console has been added that travels from the windshield to the rear
window. The console mimics the style of the center console, and it
offers map lights for the front passengers. The roof itself is
covered with a tight black vinyl headliner. Underfoot is new
high-quality black carpet topped with carpeted floormats adorned
with a Shelby Cobra logo. Around back, you'll find an immaculately
clean trunk with a vinyl Ford Racing fender cover (for protection
when working on the car), an Optima battery, and a binder full of
all of the instruction and installation manuals for the new systems
and upgrades added to the car.
