1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Dr Hardtop
VIN: 0056931F55F
This beautiful 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Dr Hardtop has been in the current owners possession for 28 years. It underwent a full rotisserie restoration in 1997 and the results are stunning as you can see for yourself. Very few miles have been put on the car since the rebuild, with trips to car shows and the only water to have ever hit the car is when it's getting a bath.
Details include:
Body/Paint: Full Frame off rotisserie restoration with all new chrome, new tires and wheels, new glass and trim. Some minor surface rust was repaired during the restoration. The paint was brought back to the original color of Coral and Midnite Gray, to include the interior and door jambs. The restoration work was performed by the current owner and Nyle Wing in Ionia Michigan. All receipts are available along with photo progression of the build.
Interior: Re-upholstered seats to the original color of Gray, on a Convertible Vinyl Pattern. The foam was replaced on the seats but the springs were in great shape. A new Headliner was installed along with new carpet. All the knobs are present and in working order. The package tray is in great condition as well as all of the orignal dash components. The door panels were replaced and the kick panels are in great condition. It has the original steering wheel and column, and the turn signals work and blink. The trunk is in great shape, showing no rust, and no spare tire or jack present.
Drivetrain: The car originally came with a 6 cylinder and was converted to a 283cu by the second owner, but it wasn't correct. So that was pulled and a 502cu crate motor was installed by the current owner. Estimated to have only about 3000 miles on the new engine. When asked if the engine was enhanced, the owner states "it didn't have to be as it's faster than lightning with 530 lbs. of torque". This is not a numbers matching car. It has an aftermarket 850 Dual Pump Holly Carburetor with an inline fuel filter. The Transmission is a 4 speed Muncie and was recently replaced about 200 miles ago with all new seals. 9in Ford rear end with 350 Posi.
Chassis: During the restoration the frame was bead blasted with all the bushings replaced in the shocks and steering components. New springs and new shoes with Disc on the front and Drums on the rear. The suspension has been upgraded with traction bars installed. The Steering sector is original, and there is no play in the steering wheel. The vehicle tracks straight down the road with new A-arms and upper and lower ball joints. The custom exhaust with Flowmater Headman Headers with a 3" pipe. The current odometer miles of 52,114 are believed to be original to the Chassis.
Components/Other: The car is equipped with manual seats. The windshield wipers are present and in working order. It has an upgraded Griffin radio conversion but will need to install the fuse because the radio and clock tend to wear down the battery. The current and third owner of this car is only selling due to his increased age. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
