Vehicle Description
*2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R*The Ford Mustang has always been
one of America's favorite muscle cars, and with some work, it could
be made to handle too. But as much as Ford tried, it never quite
was a match on the track or backroads when pitted against some of
its European rivals. The Ford and Shelby partnership in the 2000s
was more focused on adding superchargers and some minor suspension
upgrades for top-end performance, but in 2015 when the GT350 and
GT350R debuted, it was aimed at a very different crowd. With it's
unique flat-plane crank V8 and track focused suspension, this
Mustang set aside the brutish nature of the GT500 and instead
focused on obliterating BMW M3s and Porsche 911s on the track. This
2017 Mustang GT350R is a particularly special example as it is one
of 7 "Base" cars built for 2017. These cars could be specified from
the dealer with 16 different items deleted to make the car as
lightweight as possible. If that isn't special enough, this example
shows a mere 1,723 miles at the time of cataloging, making it the
perfect addition to any Mustang collection for its future
desirability. Finished in Shadow Black with a Black stripe and red
accents, the GT350R is distinguished by its deeper front splitter,
high rear wing and carbon fiber wheels which cut down on the
rotational mass of the car and help it handle like nothing else.
The only way that you can tell this is a "Base" car from the
outside is the absence of a roof antenna for the GPS but on the
interior, there are many more clues. The black cloth Recaro bucket
seats are retained which is nice, these are some of the most
comfortable and supportive sport seats ever put in a car and one of
the many great GT350R special touches. But when you slide into the
driver's seat, you notice that where the radio and infotainment
screen once sat, there is now a blank off plate. As a "Base" car,
you could delete the radio, screen and back up camera system to
shed weight, as well as the carpet moisture barrier, sound
deadening and floor mats. This means that when you take this car
out, not only will it be faster, but it will be far louder inside.
Additionally, the air conditioning was never fitted at the factory
which is one of the largest weight savings in any car and adds a
bit of power too without the additional drag on the front end of
the engine. Behind the seats, a previous owner added a Watson
Racing four-point cage with Safecraft Racing four-point belts
affixed to it.Powering this GT350R is Ford's legendary "Voodoo"
flat-plane crank V8 which displaces 5.2 liters and puts out an
astounding 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque without the use
of any forced induction. This is then routed through a 6-speed
manual gearbox to the rear wheels which are spun by a 3.73 rear end
with a Torsen limited slip differential. A few minor upgrades were
carried out under the hood including a Ford Performance air-oil
separator and Vorshlag camber plates to help you dial in the
alignment perfectly.Between 2015 and 2018, Ford produced just 135
total "Base" GT350Rs - many of which went to important figures in
the automotive world. The first ever GT350R produced went to Ford
heir and brand executive Bill Ford and was a "Base" car as was the
GT350R purchased by Jay Leno as well as that owned by Multimatic
(the company that builds Ford GTs) CEO Raj Nair. Given that only
about 6% of GT350Rs were fitted with this rare option, it's pretty
much a given that for future collectability, this will be the car
to have.*Key Features* * Rare "Base" Model GT350R * Radio and
