Vehicle Description
Finished in a deep blue with a touch of metallic flake, this 1948
Ford F-1 looks every bit as solid as the work it was built to
do-only now it's far better dressed for the job. That short bed is
lined with real wood and polished trim, while the body lines keep
to the classic F-1 formula without veering off into custom
territory. Chrome bumpers and brightwork finish the look right, and
the 15" wheels wrapped in 215/70R15 front and 255/70R15 rear tires
give it the perfect old-school truck stance. It's got the attitude
of something that still gets things done.
Gray vinyl across a classic bench seat keeps the inside clean and
grounded-no distractions, just purpose. The painted metal dash
sticks to the F-series roots and carries its original instruments
with aged authenticity. A large floor-mounted Hurst shifter brings
the manual gearbox into reach with ease. With a cab layout that's
as simple as it is functional, this setup speaks directly to the
era. The column, door panels, and headliner all stay true to form
and help give the truck its no-nonsense interior tone.
Underneath that vintage steel, a 239 flathead V8 keeps things real
with a set of dual 1-barrel Ford carbs perched on an Offenhauser
intake. Red's long tube headers send the gases out through dual
exhaust with turbo mufflers. A Borg Warner 5-speed manual gets
power to the ground through a 10-bolt rear axle. Leaf springs with
shocks at all four corners keep the ride level and functional,
while front disc brakes modernize the stopping power.
