with the large chrome dials and factory gauges including a clock,
heater and original AM radio! The white power soft top is as new
and the car has its original tonneau cover. The floor boards, trunk
and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and
rust-free and the car has no history of any accidents - obviously
an always garaged and cherished original owner car since new.The
original spare wheel with it's jack and some spare parts are in the
trunk. The 2+2 only 421CID 338HP V8 engine is extremely strong and
powerful and this particular car drives very well indeed. The
transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, there are no
noticeable oil leaks and the temperature always remains cool! The
car has factory added options including power brakes and power
steering and power windows. The car has 4 new 'Torque Thrust D'
wheels mounted on 4 new B.F. Goodrich T/A Radials and a new
'Flowmaster' dual exhaust. The Full Size Pontiac's of 1961-64 had
terrific new styling and by 1964 including stacked headlights and a
clean tail and no American automaker was doing a better job
projecting a young, hip image in tune with the times of the
swinging mid-sixties and these full-size models had a sophisticated
but sporty cachet amongst their peers.Coming off the success of of
the introduction in 1964 of the GTO, 1965 was to be a stand out
year for Pontiac muscle. Everyone was waiting to see what Pontiac
would do next and the 1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 Convertible was to
prove the ultimate example of a gentleman's muscle car, available
in both hardtop and rag head (convertible) form with performance to
match, or even exceed the GTO, and even marketed by Pontiac as "the
Big Brother" to the GTO, and which was both a luxurious and large
car that was superbly styled and equally suited for cruising the
open road as it was around town. The 2+2 special option package was
expensive and rare and was built to emphasis performance. The
hotter mill included the beastly 421 CID V8 engine, firmed up
suspension, discreet exterior cues, and a purposely more youthful
vinyl interior with of course bucket seats and a center console!
These would prove to be one of the few truly sporting big cars in
the GM stable, not counting SS Impalas, and have since become
coveted collectibles amongst muscle car enthusiasts and the
convertibles are the very rarest of the breed! The combination of
styling, handling and performance was enough for the prestigious
'Motor Trend' magazines 'Car of the Year' award in 1965!This is a
rare opportunity to own a great daily driving and never abused
example of a coveted original owner and rust free 1965 Pontiac
Catalina 2+2 Convertible with its muscular 421/338HP V8 engine with
only 44K well maintained original miles in very fine and mostly
completely original condition throughout!Owned since new by only
very careful and mature owners, this is a beautiful example of one
of the outstanding GM designs of the sixties, which has high repute
amongst enthusiasts and collectors for both it's beautiful lines
and smooth fast performance and rarity for a full-size convertible.
