WheelsThis off-road machine was upgraded over the last 30 months by
the previous owner for one thing: being a total beast. It has
well-thought-out performance modifications and a Gwyn Lewis 4x4
suspension setup that delivers superior performance both on and
off-road. Most builds focus only on curb appeal, but this one
includes the heavy-duty gear and internal upgrades to actually back
it up.Highlights include a Gwyn Lewis 4x4 Challenge Suspension Lift
Kit, a performance-upgraded and serviced 300Tdi, and 35' Toyo Open
Country M/T tires mounted on 16' Beadlock Spectre wheels. Shown
here is a 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 pushing some extra boost
through a gas-flowed high-performance AMC cylinder head (sourced
from Turner Engineering), which allows for cooler and more
efficient airflow through an uprated performance intercooler. Car
Cave installed the head in 2022 and completed a full rebuild of the
cooling system. The Defender was factory-built with the 300Tdi
engine and sourced from southern France. It runs strong and
delivers power throughout the full gear range. The exterior is
finished in factory Red with black wingtop chequer plate and black
accents throughout the build. At first glance, the stance is
intimidating, with the 16' Beadlock Spectre wheels making it clear
this Defender means business. The suspension lift isn't just for
looks?Gwyn Lewis designs their systems for serious articulation,
and the Challenge Kit provides up to 5 inches of additional travel.
Up front is an ARB bumper perfect for keeping herds of Wallabys
from damaging your front end. Safely nestled in the ARB is a
Badlands Apex 12,000 lb winch with wireless remote, smooth
fairlead, and synthetic rope. Lighting has been upgraded across the
board, including Truck-Lite LED headlights, clear LED marker lamps,
and 95mm NAS-style LED fog and reverse lights. A custom 4' raised
metal snorkel, Rovers North HD rock sliders making no underwater
boulder safe! A rear aftermarket tire carrier carries a full size
spare with matching bead lock wheel. A rear recovery hook is
fitted, but only ever used to pull others up the trail as this
Defender has never been pulled out.Inside the cabin, you'll find
black vinyl front bucket seats and an Exmoor Trim cubby box. The
rear cargo area includes four vinyl jump seats, an Exmoor black
canvas rear door card with built-in pockets, and a sliding rear
door window. A center dash-mounted EGT gauge monitors vitals, and
the lower panel houses switches for the onboard ARB air system,
front and rear differential lockers, and the winch remote. Now to
the part you don't see: the hidden upgrades that protect the
undercarriage, increase power delivery, and boost reliability.
Inside the axles are Ashcroft front and rear lockers with 4.11:1
heavy-duty ring and pinion gears?ideal for maintaining torque with
the oversized tires. Ashcroft HD front CVs and half shafts, along
with HD rear half shafts and HD hubs, keep the driveline strong. A
Gwyn Lewis wide-angle front propshaft was installed to accommodate
the increased suspension travel. Suspension is further dialed in
with cranked rear radius arms, OME HD springs, and Terrafirma
adjustable shocks. Underbody protection includes a front sump
guard, diff guard, and steering rod protection.Car Cave completed
an extensive test drive, inspection, and round of maintenance after
taking the vehicle back in on trade. Service included a new brake
caliper, front brake pads, brake system bleed, wheel bearing
repack, and tire balancing. A full filter and oil service was also
completed?including engine oil, fuel filter, and air filter. The
injection pump timing was tuned for optimal performance. The
original round of Car Cave service was performed in 2022, when we
first imported this D90 from France and sold it to the previous
owner.Options and Upgrades:AMC Gasflowed High Performance
