The Sora Blue paint on this 1970 Datsun 1600 Sports Roadster pulls
you in-it's factory-correct and laid down in base/clear for a
smooth, proper finish. From the sharp body lines to the contrast of
the black vinyl convertible top, this drop-top nails the look with
subtle confidence. It rides on 14" 280Z Black Pearl alloy wheels
wrapped in 185/70R14 tires from General, giving it a clean,
period-right stance with a bit more attitude. The fresh chrome and
trim help bring everything together with tight, tidy execution.
Inside, the black vinyl bucket seats keep it simple and classic,
with just enough comfort for a fun weekend run. A clean gauge
cluster anchors the dash, while new black carpets and fresh seals
dial back the years. A center console frames the manual shifter and
gives everything a factory-correct feel. You'll also find an AM/FM
stereo tucked into the dash, and the cabin benefits from good
airflow with the top down-or seal it up with the newer vinyl roof
and plastic rear window.
The 1600cc inline-4 is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and
breathes through dual SU carburetors. It's been given plenty of
attention with a ceramic-coated header, gear reduction starter, new
gaskets, hoses, thermostat, fuel pump, and even a GM single-wire
alternator. A rebuilt clutch and throwout bearing transfer power,
while fresh transmission and pinion seals help keep things dry. Up
front, stainless-relined brake calipers with new pads grip disc
brakes, and out back it's all rebuilt too-wheel cylinders, shoes,
lines, and master cylinder. Suspension rides on coils up front and
leafs in the rear, all tied together with new shocks and
bearings.
