The 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Pace Car is a rare and celebrated
piece of NASCAR and Indy 500 history, combining bold styling,
unique factory touches, and genuine motorsports heritage. In the
spring of 1999, Chevrolet reintroduced the Monte Carlo with a
completely new design and was awarded the prestigious honor of
pacing the 83rd Indianapolis 500. Just two months later, it
returned to lead the field at the 6th Annual Brickyard 400. To
commemorate these events, Chevrolet produced only 2,222 Pace Car
replicas-each one loaded with exclusive features and high-impact
visual cues.
Finished in its original Torch Red paint, this example presents in
exceptional condition and consistently draws praise and admiration
at shows. Under the hood is the tried-and-true 3.8-liter SFI V6,
producing 200 horsepower and paired with a smooth-shifting
automatic transmission with overdrive. This particular car is a
well-maintained, three-owner vehicle with just 57,000 original
miles, and it was built at GM's Oshawa plant in Ontario,
Canada.
The Pace Car Package sets this Monte Carlo apart from standard SS
models with its distinctive decals, including the iconic "Tasmanian
Devil" mascot, SS door panel emblems, Bowtie-embroidered headrests,
and Torch Red leather interior accents. It's also outfitted with a
full ground effects kit, a racing-inspired rear spoiler, stainless
steel exhaust tips, and upgraded 17-inch OEM-style aluminum wheels
wrapped in 225/55/17 tires, offering a more aggressive stance than
the original 16-inch wheels.
Comfort and convenience are also front and center, with factory
power and heated front seats, a power sunroof, and a premium audio
setup that includes AM/FM stereo, CD and cassette player,
six-speaker system with factory amplifier, and a 2024 Alpine
speaker upgrade with an added Bluetooth module-installed without
altering the original appearance. The windows are professionally
tinted to 20% for added privacy and aesthetic appeal.
Included in the sale are several rare collector's items: the
original 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo Indy 500 media release kit,
complete with press photos and slides of Jay Leno-who drove the
actual Pace Car at Indy-as well as die-cast models of both the Indy
500 and Brickyard 400 editions. The car comes with its original
window sticker, a clean Carfax, and a legacy as one of the most
memorable modern Monte Carlos ever built.
