This 1942 Willys MB/Ford GPW is a really cool vehicle. These
vehicles were manufactured by Willys and Ford for military use in
WWII. Ford produced 277,896 of these for Willys and Willys produced
359,489. This Jeep was frame off restored and rebuilt completely in
2010 and then refreshed in 2021. This was a nut and bolt
restoration in 2010 and the Willys was driven in the summers
obviously. We have a ton of receipts for the restoration and
refresh that will come with the vehicle. This was basically a nut
and bolt restoration and this Willys MB/Ford GPW still looks
awesome with only some very very minor paint chips touched up. The
person who did the complete restoration did live on a dirt road so
the underside is a little dirty, but you can see all of the bolts
and everything was new. The miles on the speedo are not accurate
since the speedo cable was not working for a while. The body is
excellent....super clean and straight with only some very minor
imperfections. . The tub was replaced when it was restored with a
new tub from Kaiser Willys who is the leading supplier of the parts
for this vehicle. It still looks new with no dents or dings. When
it was repainted it was professionally painted Army Green Gloss
instead of flat. The paint looks amazing. The underside of the tub
was rhino-lined when it was painted. There are obviously no rust
issues with this Jeep.
The interior is pretty basic. The inside was totally repainted when
they painted the body and it too looks excellent. Everything was
replaced with new when it was restored and a new factory style roll
bar was also added. The seats and gauges are new as well. All of
the lights and gauges work. This vehicle did not come with turn
signals when new or brake lights...a brake light kit was added.
Mechanically this Jeep is excellent. It starts easy and runs and
drives great! The engine is the L134 GO DEVIL 2.2L Inline 4 that
was rebuilt when the Jeep was restored. They replaced everything
under the hood including radaiator, starter, hoses, belts, fuel
pump, carb, new wiring harness, and converted to 12 Volt. The
transmission is the T-84 3 Speed Manual that shifts nice with a
good clutch. It is mated to the Dana T18 transfer case that was
also rebuilt and the 4WD works like it should. It has a Dana 27
rear end with 4.88 gears that was also rebuilt and we have the
receipt for that. The front axle is a Dana 25 with 4.88 gears that
was rebuilt at the same time. The wheels, including the spare were
all restored and it has like new era correct Firestone tires
mounted on them. During the restoration the brake system was
completely restored with all new parts, it received a new fuel tank
and lines, and it received all new u-joints and axle joints.
