options. We imported this Discovery directly from Italy, where it
had remained with the original owner since new. Signore Antonella
purchased the vehicle on August 10, 1999, from VARO 4X4, a Land
Rover dealership located in city of Chivasso in Torino, Italy.
Turino, also known as Turin, is located in the northwestern-most
part of Italy, and is known for its temperate and dry climate,
which helped preserved the underbody of this vehicle. The Discovery
stayed registered in the Torino area under the original Italian
plate ZA532DX for over 25 years. We retained all supporting
documentation, including registration records, inspection history,
and original owner's manuals, to validate its one-owner status. The
vehicle left the Land Rover factory in Solihull finished in Epsom
Green Metallic with a Bahama Beige cloth interior. The paint
appears original and is in excellent condition, with no signs of
respray or previous damage. Italy's dry climate has kept the
undercarriage clean, free from corrosion or rot. The exterior
presents extremely well with a brand-new set of 245/75R16
BFGoodrich All Terrain tires mounted on the factory 5-spoke alloy
wheels.Power comes from Land Rover's Td5 inline-five turbo diesel,
developed under Project Storm and known for its rugged cast-iron
block, electronic injection, and strong torque characteristics.
It's paired with the R380 5-speed manual transmission and full-time
four-wheel-drive transfer case, making it a capable and engaging
SUV both on-road and off-road. Driving this Discovery is a
completely different experience from its U.S.-spec
counterparts. This example is lightly optioned in true European
fashion, favoring reliability and simplicity over luxury. It
features manual cloth front seats and dual manual sunroofs, which
are often more reliable than the power-operated units found in
U.S.-market trucks. Power features include keyless entry, power
windows, locks, mirrors, steering, and brakes. The rear is equipped
with a cargo cover, defroster, rear wiper, and side storage
compartments on both sides.Car Cave completed a full round of
maintenance totaling over $8,000 and then put this Discovery into
regular road use, including local and highway driving, to ensure it
performs as expected. Service included replacing the valve cover
gasket, oil pan gasket, crankcase breather, and performing a full
oil change. A new viscous coupling was installed in the driveshaft,
and all four corners received new brake rotors and pads. A new set
of BFGoodrich tires were mounted. The suspension and steering
systems were refreshed with Bilstein B6 4600 shocks, a Bilstein
steering damper, and upgraded heavy-duty steering arms, followed by
a proper alignment. Known water leak-prone components were also
addressed with a new windshield, A-pillar trim, and wiper cowl.
Finally, a full five-stage paint correction was completed to bring
the original Epsom Green finish back to life. This Discovery is
well-sorted and ready to drive, or we can customize it further with
tuning, turbo upgrades, intercoolers, or extended fuel range
setups. Contact Car Cave to learn how we can tailor this Td5 to
