This 1955 MG TF 1500 is a left-hand-drive CKD example that was
purchased in 1971 by the late owner, who began a refurbishment
process that was eventually completed in 2014. Finished in red with
a tan soft top over tan leather upholstery, the car is powered by a
1.5-liter XPEG inline-four paired with a four-speed manual
transmission. Features include dual SU carburetors, 15? wire
wheels, chrome bumpers, fender-mounted mirrors, and driving
lights.
The car was repainted in red during the aforementioned
refurbishment, which involved disassembling the vehicle and
replacing some structural wood pieces. The tan soft top was
replaced in 2020 and is complemented by matching side curtains.
Other features include a clear Lucas driving light, a yellow GE
driving light, fender-mounted mirrors, a folding windshield,
running boards, rear-hinged doors, and chrome front and rear
bumpers
Replacement chrome-finished 15? wire wheels with knock-off hubs are
mounted with Radial Widetrack tires measuring 165R15, and a
matching spare is affixed to the rear. The suspension was rebuilt
during the refurbishment. Braking is handled by four-wheel
drums.
The cabin was overhauled during the refurbishment and features
low-back bucket seats trimmed in tan leather that are complemented
by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. Interior
appointments include black carpeting, engine-turned bright doorsill
covers, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle,
dual dashboard storage compartments, and door-panel map
pockets.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation
consisting of a 170-km/h speedometer with an inset clock, a
tachometer, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, oil
pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 93k
kilometers (~58k miles),
Four handwritten notebooks documenting the refurbishment that
commenced in 1971 and resumed around 2009 are included in the
sale.
