Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle
The Chevelle was introduced by Chevrolet in 1964 and went on to be
one of their most successful nameplates. The initial intention was
to compete with Ford's midsized Fairlane but after multiple
redesigns eventually found its home in the muscle car market. The
second generation, in 1968, received a completely redone body with
tapered front fenders, a rounded beltline, and the long hood/short
deck profile that was quintessential in the muscle car era. This
1969 belongs to that 2nd generation and is a very nice car. It was
fully frame off restored in 2002 and since has spent its life in a
private collection. The car left the factory July 2, 1969 and came
out of the Kansas City plant. It is painted in a nice bright Red
paint with dual Black racing stripes and has a very slick finish.
It is badged as a SS and all of the emblems, chrome, and trim are
in excellent shape. The glass is all good throughout and is
slightly tinted. The car rides on a set of nice SS wheels wrapped
with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
Open up the SS hood and you will find that although badged as a 396
this Chevelle is now powered by a 427ci motor. It has a 4.25 HD
block bored .60 over to a 442ci and has a three step finish hone,
zero decked to pistons and standard align bore. The motor was all
professionally built and features a standard journal 427 crank
polished with Clevite bearings, high performance GM cam, 1974 open
chamber heads with new guides, TRW L2268F forged pistons with
sealed power ceramic rings, Speed Pro hydraulic lifters, Crane
998839 springs, GM green locks, long slot rockers, Recon rods with
new bolts, Melling high volume oil pump, 1970 454 Ls6 fuel pump,
high output Summit 46,000 volt HEI coil, Edelbrock Torker II intake
and a Holley 750 double pumper carburetor with a high output
secondary accelerator pump. It is estimated to put out around 475
horsepower and sounds great through ceramic coated Hooker
Competition headers into Flowmaster mufflers. Mated to the motor is
a Turbo 400 automatic transmission that has been modified with
extra clutch plates and a B&M shift kit. The rear end is a
positraction 12 bolt rear with 3:55 gears. Other nice features
include the power brakes, power steering, AC, and high performance
u-joints.
The interior is done in Black vinyl and the upholstery is all in
great shape. It has factory front bucket seats with a bench in
rear. It has its original center console in place with the horse
shoe floor shifter that shifts smoothly. The dash is painted in
gloss Black and the Black dash pad is in good condition. The stock
gauges are there but a second gauge pod has been added below the
dash for the Auto Meter Amp/Temp/Oil pressure gauges. Everything
else is mostly stock except a JVC AM/FM/Cassette stereo has been
added at some point in the past. The trunk has plenty of storage
space and the pans are all solid.
These Chevelles have always been popular and no muscle car
collection is complete without one.
Take it home for $69,000.00!
