For Sale at Auction: 1985 Volvo 240 in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1985 Volvo 240

This 1985 Volvo 245 wagon is said to have been sold new in Oregon and remained in the state for approximately thirty years. It was later relocated to Montana where it was purchased by the seller in May 2023. The car is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four that has been mated with a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission installed in August 2023. A one-piece driveshaft was also fitted in addition to Koni coilovers, BNE Dynamics suspension components, 17inch HRE-style wheels, a Lokar shifter, and a Ferrari 308-style steering wheel. The car is finished in Medium Blue over blue vinyl, and additional features include LED headlights, a Sony head unit, and air conditioning.

Finished in Medium Blue and features bright trim, a front spoiler, a rear window wiper, a right quarter panel extractor vent, mud flaps, and black mirror camps and window trim. Areas of the lower bodywork with rust damage were removed, and replacement metal was welded, primed, and painted. Photos of the process are provided in the gallery. There is rust damage on the lower windshield trim, as well as on the rear hatch. The 17inch HRE-style wheels are said to have been sourced from a Ferrari 308 and feature yellow prancing horse center caps. They are mounted with 215/45 Cooper Zeon RE3-G1 tires. Stopping is provided by power-assisted front and rear discs. The car rides on a lowered suspension and is equipped with the following components:

Koni coilovers
BNE Dynamics adjustable torque rod
BNE Dynamics panhard rod
BNE Dynamics spherical strut mounts
BNE Dynamics quick-steer roll corrector
IPD anti-sway bar kit

The front control arm bushings were replaced in May 2023, the inner tie rods and the ball joints in August 2023, the rear brake calipers, pads, and rotors in August 2024, and wheel bearings as well as the front brake pads in September 2024.
The front bucket seats and the folding rear bench are trimmed in blue vinyl, and interior appointments include a Lokar shifter with a Ferrari 308-style shift knob, a Sony head unit with Bluetooth capability,  as well as a center console, and an air conditioning system that has been converted to utilize R134a refrigerant. BNE Dynamics speaker brackets and window spacers have been installed, and Kilmat sound-deadening material has been applied to the rear cargo area. There are cracks in the dashboard.

The four-spoke steering wheel is said to have been sourced from a Ferrari 308 and is mounted to a MOMO adapter. It sits ahead of instrumentation that consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock and supplementary gauges. The speedometer cable was replaced in August 2023. The six-digit odometer shows 342k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. A mileage inconsistency is listed in an August 2024 entry of the Carfax report, which notes that it may be the result of a "clerical error."

The 2.3-liter inline-four was factory rated at 114 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque. Drive belts were replaced in August 2023, and the engine mounts were replaced in July 2024. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission installed in August 2023. A one-piece driveshaft assembly was installed, and the clutch assembly, flywheel, clutch cable, damper, and pilot bearing were installed concurrently. The differential fluid was replaced in August 2023.
