The Triumph Spitfire is a British sports car produced from 1962 to 1980, known for its affordable price and fun-to-drive characteristics. It came in five models over its 18-year production run, steadily improving in terms of features and performance. The Spitfire was a significant export success with a large percentage of sales going to the United States. This example is accompanied with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and a Capital Triumph Register Certificate. As documented this example was built on May 17th, 1968 in Coventry, England. It was ordered with a White exterior with a black soft top and black interior. The details of equipment included a windscreen washer, wing mirror on the driver's side, 145-13 Dunlop tires, heater, kilometers speedometer and disc wheels. It was shipped to Blanc and Paiche S.A. located in Geneve, Switzerland where it was retailed to the first owner. The original female owner moved to the United States and shipped the car. It was purchased in 1978 by second owner Terry Sopher and his father. They participated in SCCA rallies and other events such as car shows over the next 26 years before doing a rotisserie restoration in 2004. In 2006, the car was sold to the third owner who was a British Expat executive with Bentley North America. He added approximately 1,800 miles on the car over the next 16 years and due to health issues did not drive it for the last several years of his ownership. In 2022, he contacted Terry about purchasing the car back and a deal was made. During Terry's recent ownership he had the engine and transmission completely rebuilt. He also had the carburetors rebuilt and replaced some suspension parts. A painted hard top with new stand is included. The original owner's manuals, dealership brochures, wooden show board displays, many extra parts and a binder of receipts are also included. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car from Terry in January of 2025. MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $7,221.11 in service work which is documented with an invoice. Dare to compare this example to any others that have been sold or that are currently being advertised for sale. June of 2025 is the first time it's been listed for sale.
