This 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP is a rare example featuring the
coveted GTX conversion by SLP Engineering, a performance and
styling package developed in limited numbers. Believed to be one of
the early production GTX models, this one-owner vehicle stands as a
significant piece of 1990s American performance history.
The GTX package was commissioned by SLP (Street Legal Performance)
and included cosmetic enhancements and performance upgrades that
set it apart from the standard GTP. Though official production
numbers are scarce, early models like this are especially hard to
come by and highly sought after by enthusiasts. The heart of the
GTP-the supercharged 3.8L V6-was further upgraded by SLP with a
smaller supercharger pulley and high-flow intake system, boosting
performance beyond factory specs while retaining everyday
drivability.
Finished in sleek black over a clean gray cloth interior, this
Grand Prix shows fewer than 76,000 original miles and has been
exceptionally well cared for. Recent maintenance includes new tires
installed in 2024, a synthetic oil change in November 2024, and a
new battery in 2023, ensuring it's ready for the road.
