For Sale: 1955 MG TF in Stratford, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

a rare find......3 owners (last owner put on only a few hundred miles), 24,000 original miles, excellent original maroon paint (we spent two days wet sanding and buffing the paint and the results were absolutely extraordinary)), excellent chassis, excellent original engine (55 psi oil pressure at operating temperature, 150 psi compression in every cylinder, quiet valves, alloy rocker and side plate cover), excellent transmission (good synchromesh, quiet in all gears), excellent interior (leather seats), very good cloth top, side curtains, and boot cover), and...........

A nice car.. in fact a VERY nice car. Starts instantly, runs flawlessly, revs quickly, ALL gauges work, all electricals work, has wire wheels (an option on MG TFs), has original period MG seat belts, excellent chrome, and......

MG TFs have a strange switch for the wipers, part of the left side wiper knob. Over the past fifty years and having sold, maybe 50-80 TFs, this is exactly the second TF I have encountered with a working original wiper switch. A switch that has not been available for maybe near 70 years. In no way am I suggesting this makes this car incredibly rare BUT, again, have only encountered one other TF with a working factory wiper switch.

Reading paperwork that came with the car, we understand that this car was garaged and not used for many years. And we have invoices for over $8,000 for work to 'renew' the car and get back in action. New water pump, cleaning and repainting the fuel tank, carbs, brakes, turn signal wiring, on and on.

During our first test drive, the car performed flawlessly, pulled quickly through the gears, excellent steering, soft controlled ride, watched the oil pressure stay 55-70 psi as the engine warmed up, no smoke cold or hot, handbrake worked properly, having twin Aeroscreens mounted on the cowl behind the windshield is a nice touch (making use of the folding windshield much more practical), AND with far more power than one typically expects from the XPAG engined TD or TF.

It all appears to be original, it all appears to be excellent, . And a TF that is not easily replaced. Lot of worn out TFs, some nicely restored TFs, even some show winning cars......but few low mileage, very original cars. Inquire for further details.
