Introducing the 1st Porsche 993 Turbo SC
This 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo, the final era of air-cooled Turbos, is
the 1st of an extremely limited series of 993 twin turbos where
Canepa applies their signature touch of aesthetic and mechanical
updates for a tasteful modern interpretation of the Turbo. As the
1st 993 twin turbo "Sport Canepa" commission, the process involves
a bespoke process with each individual to suit their tastes,
combining modern technology and aesthetics with a timeless Porsche
vehicle.
Porsche's 993 twin turbo design is an excellent starting point,
where the focus of Canepa was to enhance and elevate the current
form vs. completely changing what Porsche designers had envisioned.
This included the addition of European (ROW) suspension which
lowers the Turbo approximately 1" for a more aggressive stance,
European fascias, a Turbo S spoiler and front brake ducts with
integrated fog lights bring the lusted-after European spec look to
America. Factory Turbo Twist wheels were coated in Canepa's iconic
Magnesium Graphite finish, accented by the Polar Silver-painted
brake calipers to match the rest of the car. The 993's headlights
were upgraded with LEDs for better night driving visibility, along
with the conversion of LED lights throughout the exterior of the
car. A light shade of chrome reflective tint completes the
understated appearance, and a FabSpeed Sports Exhaust with stealth
black Cerakote exhaust tips adds an intoxicating exhaust note.
An SC commission would not be complete without a bespoke interior.
With the goal to tie the entire car together, the artisans at
Canepa began the work to complete a new interior. Porsche Hardback
Sports seats were added, with the hardbacks painted in matching
Polar Silver Metallic with black leather with Polar Grey inserts
finishing the look. Gray square weave carpet was applied
throughout, covering even the trunk area of the 993. Auxiliary
floor mats were made of the same material, keeping the floor carpet
pristine from future drives. The SC's gauge cluster was upgraded to
silver backdrops, and its 90s incandescents were upgraded to much
more powerful units for better night time visibility. The remainder
of the interior lights were converted to LED bulbs for an updated
aesthetic. While driving you might want to listen to music, leading
Canepa to install a modern Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 wireless sound
system with period-correct aesthetics with modern-day
usability.
With the newly-added European spec aesthetic additions, it was time
to protect them. Extensive paint protection film was employed,
including the front bumper, spoiler, hood, front fenders, doors,
mirrors, lower rockers, and rear bumper leading edges, ensuring
that even the most spirited drives would not harm the Polar Silver
Metallic paint.
During the SC commissioning process, the 993 was completely
serviced by Canepa, and was given a concours-level detail from top
to bottom.
Introducing the 1st of Canepa's limited series of commissions, the
993 Turbo SC is all about maintaining the charm of the original
Porsche design while enhancing and elevating its visual and driving
experience. With a bespoke creation like this you can be sure to
turn heads, including your own as you park and walk away, and it to
be enjoyed for years to come by pilots, co-pilots, and bystanders
alike.
About this 911 Turbo
The 1996 Porsche 993 Turbo wasn't merely a car; it was the pinnacle
of an era that marked the grand finale of the air-cooled 911
lineage. With its sculpted silhouette punctuated by that iconic
"whale tail" spoiler, the 993 Turbo radiates intent. Those flared
rear haunches aren't just aesthetic - they house a 3.6-liter,
twin-turbocharged flat-six, a relentless powerplant producing 408
horsepower.
Step inside, and the cockpit envelops you like a bespoke suit.
Supportive leather seats, purposeful instrument layout...this is a
space built for the connoisseur, where every detail whispers a
singular purpose: the sheer thrill of the drive.
But the 993 Turbo isn't a brute. Its handling prowess is a
testament to Porsche's engineering mastery. It carves corners with
the precision of a scalpel, its all-wheel drive system providing
unwavering grip. This is a machine that rewards skill, demands
engagement, and delivers an unmatched connection between driver and
road.
Porsche's 993 Turbo generation saw itself become the most refined
air-cooled sports car Porsche had ever produced. With its superior
build quality, stupendous performance, and dynamic driving
experience, it was the perfect sports car for every occasion.
Comfortable for daily driving and enough performance to leave
others in the dust, this duality of the 911 Turbo is what earned
its status as one of the best sports cars, bar none.
Though this vehicle has had five owners over the years, the most
mileage was put on it by the first owner, who drove just over
11,500 miles. From that point, the car's usage remained light and
has been well taken care of by Newport Auto Center in Newport
Beach, California, since 2012 and Beverly Hills Porsche in Los
Angeles, California, before that.
