immediately took the car to a performance shop and had the camshaft
exchanged for a higher lift camshaft and had the carburetor
rejetted with bigger jets for more performance. In with the Gilles
Bureau also sent a copy of a speeding ticket he had received at 150
KMH in a 70 KMH zone and a photo of him and the corvette on
delivery day in front of his dads dealership . The Corvette would
switch hands over the tears until ultimately ending up in the hands
of Tanker Collector K.D. James. K.D. is very well known in corvette
circles for his passion for Big Tank Corvettes and his amazing
collection of these rare corvettes. The Tanker ended up in Bob
Gregorys garage a corvette restorer. When K.D decided he wanted to
sell the corvette Bob Immediately Contacted Bruce Smith and told
him "You have to buy this car". Bruce a corvette enthusiast jumped
on the opportunity and purchased the Tanker. Although the Corvette
was in need of a complete restoration Bruce, His Brother Scott and
Bob were up for the challenge performing a complete restoration.
Bruce would go on to trace the ownership of this corvette all the
way back to the original owner who he was able to have
correspondence with. Once the Restoration was complete Bruce
thought it was only right that this Corvette should be shown for
the first time out on the Judging field in its home Country of
Canada at the 2002 Quebec NCRS Regional in July of 2002. Bruce
would go on to show the Tanker at many NCRS Events and receive
multiple Top Flight Awards. After 28 Years of ownership Bruce
passed the Corvette on to a new caretaker a friend he knew would
care for the car just as he had Joe Verrillo a Corvette Collector,
Restorer and owner Of Verrillo Motor Car Co. Of Clifton Park NY.
Joe Would take the Tanker out for judging and Receive an NCRS Top
Flight Award, Bloomington OEM Gold Award and now a MCACN Gold
Spinner and Triple Diamond Award.
