When the original Ford Falcon rolled off the assembly line in 1960,
few were aware that its platform would become the foundation for
many FoMoCo products spanning decades. The Ford Maverick was one of
those products. The Maverick was introduced in 1970 as an
affordable alternative to European and Japanese imports. It was
designed to be simple, reliable, and economical. Styled with a long
hood and short rear deck, the Maverick took cues from the Mustang,
giving it a sporty fastback appearance despite being a budget car.
This 1973 Maverick coupe is a rare, low-mileage example of the
popular sedan. It has been possessed by one family since new and
the owner states that the odometer reading of just over 23,000
miles is actual. (A binder that details the maintenance history and
receipts is provided with the car.) Other than some minor paint
work, this '73 Maverick is virtually original. The exterior is
finished in the factory Medium Blue Metallic. Some areas have been
carefully touched-up over the years and sport accent strips have
also been added. The Maverick sits nicely on period-correct
American Racing alloys that mount 16" Nexen radials. The interior
appears to be original and is in excellent condition. Factory
upholstery, door cards, headliner - all in great nick.
This Maverick is equipped with a Windsor 302ci V8, somewhat rare
when compared to the much more common 'Thriftpower 170/200 Six'.
The Windsor is in stock form and said to have never been rebuilt.
The powerplant is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission
w/column shift and exhaust is routed through a new free-flowing
dual exhaust system. The chassis is equipped with power steering
and 4-wheel manual drum brakes w/dual master. This is a low-mileage
Maverick, as close to original as you will ever find. Act
post-haste - it will not be here long. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS
IS".
