Finished in single-stage PPG DAR-9000 black, this 1940 Chevrolet
Master 85 Business Coupe makes quite an impression with its classic
pre-war proportions and sleek silhouette. The glossy black paint
accentuates every curve and line of the distinctive bodywork, from
the flowing fenders to the compact passenger compartment. Custom
glass running boards from Superior Glassworks add a modern touch to
this vintage design while maintaining the period-correct
appearance. The chrome and brightwork present exceptionally well,
complementing the black finish with perfect contrast. Rolling on
15" Wheelsmith wheels with 185/70R15 front and 235/70R15 rear
tires, this Master 85 has both presence and poise.
The red leather interior creates a bold contrast to the exterior
black finish. Collins Custom Interior crafted this cabin with
exceptional attention to detail, representing a $7,000 investment
backed by receipts. The bucket seats provide modern comfort while
maintaining a classic aesthetic, paired with a floor-mounted
shifter for the 5-speed transmission. A Flaming River steering
column adds both style and functionality to the driving experience.
The dash displays clear, easy-to-read gauges, while the door panels
and headliner maintain the same high standard of craftsmanship. The
red carpeting completes this well executed interior package.
Mechanical prowess comes from a 292 cubic inch inline-six engine,
originally from a 1968 truck and bored to 301 cubic inches during
its 2017 rebuild. Documentation includes the cam card and rebuild
specifications. Performance enhancements include hydraulic lifters,
an Offenhauser intake manifold, and dual single-throat Weber
carburetors for improved breathing and response. Power transfers
through a T5 5-speed manual transmission, reportedly from a 1984
Camaro with an 1985 S10 tailshaft and 11-inch truck clutch. A Ford
9-inch rear end with 3.50 gears (narrowed with custom axles by
Currie Enterprises) puts the power to the pavement. The chassis
features a TCI Mustang II front suspension with tubular A-arms,
coil springs, and shocks, while leaf springs support the rear.
