For Sale: 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 in Mitchell, South Dakota

Vehicle Description

I am offering up for sale my 1965 Galaxie 500 Convertible and let me tell you, this is probably the nicest 1965 Galaxie 500 Convertible you will ever find! This car is as true of a time capsule as you could ever find. The current mileage on this all-original unrestored Galaxie is around 6,500 actual miles. Not rolled over, documented original miles! Even the title, which is in my name with no liens, reflects the mileage as actual and original. Included in the photos is a picture of a note provided to me when I purchased the car a little over a year ago. Sadly, the original owner passed about the time the car was sold to me. You will also find the oil change records provided by him confirming the miles.

Upon inspection you will find this car every bit as nice as it looks. It drives just like a brand new 1965 Galaxie 500. Everything works on the car with the exception of the clock. The power steering is smooth, quiet and effortless. The optional AM radio with factory installed rear seat speaker works just like new. The heater system works perfectly, and the vent knobs slide in and out smoothly. The wipers wipe just as they should. All lights, inside and out, work perfectly including turn signals and backup lights, even the glove compartment light!  The ash tray slides in and out like a new one and has never been used, the original lighter is brand new. The speedometer and all gauges work perfectly. Even the cold light still works. The gas gauge is accurate. All windows roll up and down effortlessly and the weatherstripping is all good. The front door vent windows crank open and shut easily. The manual front seat slides back and forth just like a new car. Every door opens and shuts like new with windows up or down. The trunk lid closes perfectly. Now look at that dash pad, when was the last time you saw an original 1965 or 66 Ford dash pad that wasn’t all shrunk out of place. This is the first one I’ve even seen, and it still looks new. The original top goes up and down and fits snugly when it is up. The top still retains its original glass rear window. The seats and door panel show zero wear; they still look factory fresh. Open the trunk and you will find the original trunk mat looking like it’s never been used, along with the original spare. Most everything on the car is original except for the new tires I installed in 2024, and they are the correct size and type, and a few maintenance items that were replaced by the previous owner such as thermostat, fuel pump and water pump. The spare tire is still the original and has never been used. The parade boot is a reproduction as I didn’t get the original one with the car.

When you drive this car the first thing you notice is that it starts just as a new car should, the original starter sounds just like it should. The cold light comes on until the proper operating temperature is reached! Driving this car is a trip back in time. It’s like riding on a cloud, so smooth and soft. And quiet? For a convertible nothing could ride quieter. It just drives so effortlessly.

Of course, you will not find a bit of rust anywhere on this car and the paint is beautiful. As you will see in the note from the original owner, the driver’s front fender was repainted as some varnish was dropped on the fender in the garage. It is a high quality repaint of just the fender and is not noticeable. The rest of the paint is all original.

I am selling this car as I am almost afraid to drive it and put more miles on it. I just don’t use this car enough to warrant keeping it so I have decided I would sell it if I can get a reasonable price.

The price is $50,000 and I feel this car is worth every penny. I would encourage you to come look at it and drive it, and you will love the car.

You could buy a similar car for $20,000 and easily spend another $50,000 or more on it to try and bring it to this level, and it would still not be nearly as nice. They are only original once and there is nothing like an original low mileage unrestored car.

Please feel free to message me for more information. I am not a dealer or broker; I’m just a hobbyist who has enjoyed many classic Fords over the years.

As with any classic car, I am selling it as-is with no warranties expressed or implied, and I encourage you to come inspect it and drive it.
