Vehicle Description
2008 Saturn Sky Redline Convertible
"The Saturn Sky debuted in 2006, and the automaker introduced a Red
Line model variant on April 11th, 2006. Like the Sky model it is
based off of, the Sky Red Line entered the market as a 2007 model
year vehicle and was discontinued after the 2010 model year.
Roughly 35,000 units were built during this time. While the base
Saturn Sky offered a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline 4
cylinder engine, dubbed the LE5, the Sky Red Line spruced things up
with a turbocharged four banger. Designated by the LNF engine code,
the boosted engine had a stout output of 260 horsepower and 260
pound-feet of torque, which was enough to propel the two seater
from zero to sixty miles in nearly five seconds flat; 5.2 with an
automatic transmission, to be exact." Thx GMauthority.com
For consignment, a 2008 Saturn Sky Redline Convertible with a title
verified 12,056 actual miles, a garage kept beauty with a few
tasteful mods including a back up camera and Magnaflow cat back
exhaust. If you're looking for the perfect weekend performance
roadster, this pampered Sky presents a great opportunity and does
so with an automatic gearbox!
Exterior
Neighbors heads will turn when you strut down the street in your
Chilli Pepper Red convertible and even with the black canvas top
up, it's an impressive looking car. The wide nose has Porsche 718
vibes but wears an apron of hefty ornamentation around the marker
lights and fog lights with a frame of chrome and mesh intakes. A
couple of faux hood vents add to the aggression and are nicely
coordinated with the nickel windscreen frame and fender vents up
front. 18-inch chrome wheels carry 45 series ZR rated tires while
in back, seat fairing leads to a rounded hump with flush Altezza
style tail lights. A black valance holds square exhaust tips, and
our car has an added trailer hitch. A nice addition is the lighted
windscreen that brightens when the brakes are applied. Chin scrapes
are the only imperfections on the exterior where the paint, trim,
and canvas roof are all in excellent shape.
Interior
Basic black is the theme, and the leather bucket seats get the
redline logo embroidered on back, both set deep into the car
allowing the center console to provide an armrest and storage. The
robust leather wrapped steering wheel looks barely touched and
leads to a simple dash with three dials and electronic readouts in
a base of textured black plastic. The center stack is a busier
place with a screen added to the top over vents, A/C dials, and an
AM/FM/CD changer with more buttons than JoAnn Fabrics, arranged
logically and some are repeated on the steering wheel. An argent
colored plastic shroud is the base for the shifter, a stout piece
that is surrounded by a chrome frame and booted in black leather.
Low pile black carpet at our feet is clean and protected by
carpeted Redline mats and the rear storage is finished with gray
cloth covered plastic liners and provides 5.4 cubic feet of storage
with the top up.
Drivetrain
Showroom fresh conditions reside under the hood which flips
forward, (Corvette style!), and holds the 2.0 liter Ecotec
turbocharged inline four cylinder rated at 260 horsepower and
backed by a 5L40E 5-speed automatic sending power to the rear axle
with 3.73 gears and limited slip. To slow the 2,990 pound
speedster, power disc brakes are supplied to front and rear
wheels.
Undercarriage
Spotless underneath but of course, we have to make mention of the
typical surface rust on the rear axle components. A Magnaflow
Saturn Sky Street series cat back system delivers spent petrol
through a single exhaust and single muffler that splits stock
exhaust tips which fit perfectly in the gaps contoured into the
rear valance. The Magnaflow tailpipes will come with the car, but
do not fit with the trailer hitch. Performance tuned independent
SLA suspension is found front and rear.
Drive-Ability
About as close to a new 2008 car as you'll find, there were no
surprises during the smooth run and the boosted four provides good
linear power with handling that was praised back in '08 and still
delivers today. As a low mileage and well cared for modern car, all
functional items operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
If you're looking for a weekend beach cruiser or canyon carver,
this topless red two seater will do the trick! But that doesn't
mean you can't drive this every day! It makes for one heck of a fun
grocery getter or work commuter, and this low mileage example in a
great color will get your blood pumping from the first minute until
the time you get out and turn to look at it after you've parked it.
And you know you will! And why not, she's a beauty!
