Stage I performance package included a hotter cam, larger valves
with stronger springs, ported heads, and revised carburetor
jetting. Torque was unchanged, Buick published horsepower at 360,
but most testers said it was over 400 with approx 510 lb/ft of
torque
1 of only 801 GS Stage 1 cars produced by Buick in 1971
1 of only 687 GS Stage 1 Coupes produced by Buick in 1971
So with the very limited production these cars have been highly
sought after and hold value as there are very few on the streets
today.
Very original survivor type muscle car that would be great to drive
daily as is. Also perfect candidate for a full restoration.
Matching numbers original 455 Stage 1 engine (see attached

yrs ago + new front bucket seat Ulpholstery. Only other changes are

Paint has cracks, chips, imperfections, scratches and clear coat
checking. Body and trunk are 100% steel with no detectable Bondo,
no rust or dents. Floor pans have been replaced and or patched.
(See images)
Lines on doors, hood and trunk are normal amount of variance.
Bumpers have some pitting with surface rust and are in need of
re-chrome. The exterior trim and molding are in nice driver
condition.
Undercarriage is driver level with no visible damage to frame or
chassis.
Interior is in original condition with exception of front bucket
seats. Door panels, dash, headliner, rear package tray etc all
appear to have never been removed.
This is an extremely complete survivor car that is perfect for a
ground up restoration. Odometer reads 154K miles. Engine has lots
of power both off the line and top end. Could be driven as is or
rebuilt however the engine does not smoke or use oil so compression
is good. Car starts up cold easy as well as drives and steers
exactly as designed. Fun to cruise in and gets lots of attention
out on the streets. This Buick needs nothing to drive and enjoy as
is. Great looking hot rod with endless personality and tons of
upside.
Disclosures: Wipers, horn, backup lights, and air conditioning are
all non operational. GM OEM disc brakes come with car.
