The example on offer is one of only 1,555 units produced by General
Motors to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Trans Am, and to
subsequently serve as the official pace car for the 73rd
Indianapolis 500. This very limited production automobile is
equipped with the only two options available, t-tops and leather
interior. Factory fitted with the following: WS6 Level III
performance suspension with Delco gas-charged shocks, tuned coil
springs, a fixed-ratio 12.7:1 ratio steering box, 1LE four-wheel
disc brakes, vented Repco 12" rotors in the front paired with
heavy-duty PBR aluminum twin-piston calipers, and a set of 11.7"
rotors with Corvette-spec PBR calipers in the rear. Further, it
utilizes a standard-issue GTA rear axle with 3.27:1 gearing and
Positraction. A revised torque arm arrangement locates the rear
axle. It was produced with gold-centered 16x8" diamond-spoke
aluminum wheels with Z-rated (150+ MPH approved) Goodyear Eagle
ZR50 245/50ZR16 "Gatorback" radials.
This Trans AM has been locally collector owned and is immaculate
throughout. Included are its original t-top storage bag, compact
spare wheel, jack and lug wrench. Still equipped with the original
Lexamar T-Tops. A rare find in today's market, this represents a
wonderful opportunity to own an iconic piece of American
motorsports history that is turnkey and ready for immediate
enjoyment.
