Big changes came for Ford after 1948 when the cars were completely
redesigned for 1949 and on. This wasn't just a mild redesign either
but a major overhaul and was the first one following WWII. The
Custom model was introduced and known as the "shoebox" Ford. All of
a sudden the idea of wide separated fenders that stemmed from the
Model T was completely abandoned and would never return as vehicles
started to incorporate the fenders for a more streamlined
rectangular look. This cool 1950 "shoebox" Ford is a really solid
car that has resided with the current owner 25 years. It is garage
kept and was repainted in Black sometime in the past after being
Blue originally. There doesn't appear to be any rust issues on the
body and no evidence suggesting previous accidents. The original
chrome and trim pieces are all in place including the iconic center
bullet grill. The original hood ornaments on these are often
missing but this one still has it in place. The glass on it is all
good with no cracks or problems. It sits on its original steel
wheels with Ford hubcaps, beauty rings, and thin white wall
tires.
The car starts up and runs well thanks to its original Flathead V8
motor. It has a 2 barrel carburetor, its original oil bath air
cleaner, and its original style gravity oil filter. Combined with
the motor is a 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. It is a
6 volt system and the car doesn't smoke. It is the stock brake set
up but the car stops nicely.
The interior of the car is done in Red and has all been replaced.
You can tell it hasn't been used much since that was done because
the carpet, headliner and upholstery work still looks fresh. It has
a split front bench and full rear bench. Red floor mats have been
added to keep the car's carpet in good shape. A custom Silver
console has been made for it which gives you more storage space and
cup holders. The dash is all painted and hasn't been cut up or
modified. It has a stock layout with all of the stock components.
The original 2 spoke steering wheel with chrome horn ring sits in
front of the driver and the horn does work. The trunk is carpeted
and houses a spare.
This is a very straight forward and solid car that is ready for a
new home.
This affordable classic could be yours for $24,000.00!
