Vehicle Description
1991 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Flare Side 4x4 Pickup
"Although many before it were said to be styled by aerodynamics,
this is the first Chevy pickup that really looked like it. It was
also the first IFS 4WD full size Chevy pickup and the first full
size pickup from any manufacturer with a third door for the
extended cab model. The dash and switchgear were unlike any pickup
that came. It also marked the end of the "universal" pickup with
non standard frame rails and headlights, and if your company made
roll pans or lowering kits, the C/K Series truck might have made
you wealthy." Thx Motortrend
For consignment, a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 flare side 4x4
pickup with a title verified 152,764 actual miles. This is a two
owner truck and according to our consignor, the engine was replaced
at 106,748. Having purchased the truck in 1993, our consignor spent
years adding items not only for general maintenance, but to create
a unique and personalized truck that is an absolute stand out.
Exterior
Gray Blue Metallic serves as the base and gold 16-inch Chevrolet
wheels immediately pop as special and visually pick up on the gold
pinstripe and gold egg crate grille. Ice clear headlights, marker
light, and tail light lenses brighten things around the truck while
chrome bumpers anchor the front and rear. Along the side, a
fiberglass running board provides a step up to the 4x4, and a tri
fold tonneau cover makes for easy access to the bed, where many of
the original parts are stored and will come with the truck. Sport
side mirrors have been added and paint matched and flaring rain
guards simply match the protrusions of steps and fenders adorning
this sweet ride. Imperfections include paint runs, touched up
scratches, dings, and painted filler.
Interior
Gray velour door panels are clean and accented by simulated
burlwood around the lock and window switches, while gray vinyl
coats the armrest and frames the storage bin and both doors are in
clean condition. Some wear in the leather is apparent on the
driver's side bucket seat but it makes it no less inviting as they
are tall and supportive. Burlwood accenting has a starring role on
the interior and is present on the steering wheel cover, the
instrument cluster surround, and along the armrest. A-pillar gauges
have been added to augment the sporty white faced gauges up front,
and a rear view camera screen is to the right over the A/C panel.
Moving to the center, we find an AM/FM/CD radio with Aux and over
the gray carpet sits a range selector on the tranny hump. The gray
headliner is fully intact and clean.
Drivetrain
Accented with gold and braided lines is a 5.7 liter V8, fuel
injected and mated to a 700R4 4-speed automatic that sends power to
the 10 bolt axle in back with 3.42 gears in front and rear
differentials. Power disc brakes are employed up front and in the
back.
Undercarriage
Driver quality underneath with some typical surface rust, and some
deeper flaking but superficial rust. Dry conditions prevail other
than the base of the rear differential. A single exhaust runs
through a stainless steel muffler that exists under the right rear
body extension piece.
Drive-Ability
We take our place in the cabin of this good looking truck and crank
the 5.7 to life. We immediately notice some surging at idle that
doesn't settle, but the truck delivers good power on the test loop
and 75 series tires along with a suspension shock absorber help
tame the imperfection in our track, that being the occasional
pothole. Meanwhile, all functions operate as they should on this
pampered pickup. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
Sure taste is subjective, but we think this is an objectively good
looking truck with some custom colorization and the body kit that
adds a side step to the step side! Condition belies the overall
mileage and the bed is completely usable and made accessible with
the tri fold tonneau. 4x4 capability, good looks, and don't forget
about the tow hitch in the back! This is like the Swiss Army knife
of pickups, take it with you today!
