Vehicle Description

The main components of this 150 wagon’s powertrain date from the 21st century. The engine is a 6.0-liter iron-block LS V-8 sourced from a modern Chevrolet truck that showed about 25,000 miles on the odometer when the engine was removed.  The engine was torn down and inspected rebuilt using LS3 cylinder heads, an LS3 camshaft and LS3 intake and fueling components. A standard 6.0-liter LS2  engine is rated at 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque; with the LS3 components installed in this wagon, with these components we estimate output to be in the same range as an LS2. The fuel-injected steel block engine doesn’t smoke or leak, and the installation is sanitary and the engine bay is cleanly executed enough to nearly pass as factory clean. The 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission that had about 15,000 miles on it when it was pulled from a 2011 Camaro. This two-door 150 station wagon dates from 1957, when Chevrolet produced just 17,528 examples of this body style, and has been augmented with trim from the Bel Air series, the next step up in appointments from the 210. It’s propelled by a 21st century iteration of Chevrolet’s famed small-block V-8 the 6.0- liter iron-block LS V-8 that's mated to a 6L80 six-speed automatic. It boasts interior upgrades to match its added power. The paint and body work was refinished in 2022 along with new wheels and tires!

A standard 6.0-liter LS2 aluminum engine is rated at 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque; with the LS3 components installed in this wagon, with these components we estimate output to be in the same range as an LS2. The fuel-injected steel block engine doesn’t smoke or leak, and the installation is sanitary and the engine bay is cleanly executed enough to nearly pass as factory clean. The 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission that had about 15,000 miles on it when it was pulled from a 2011 Camaro. The transmission shifts smoothly through all six forward speeds and like the engine, doesn’t leak.  An expert, in the field, made sure that the electronic components that manage the engine and transmission were properly connected and interfacing correctly for seamless drivability. The factory rear end was replaced by a more modern GM 10-bolt Posi unit with a new gearset. 

EXTERIOR

The door seals are new,  the tailgate seal is in good condition. . The retrofitted Bel Air exterior trim badges and moldings appear to be in very good condition. The stock wheels and tires have been replaced with new mag wheels and tires.  The grille is undamaged and both bumpers show well. 

INTERIOR

The interior of this 150 wagon has been upgraded with under-dash Vintage Air air conditioning, and the dashboard has been fitted with a full gauge cluster, including tachometer, from Classic Instruments. It also received a complete new wiring harness. A modern tilt steering column is topped by an aftermarket, studded wood-rim steering wheel. The replacement carpet, including floor mats, is in like-new condition, and the seats are covered by an upholstery kit in the correct 1957 colors and patterns. The headliner is also new and the dome light functions. A B&M floor shifter operates the transmission. The radio has been upgraded to an aftermarket AM/FM electronic system. The cargo area presents as well as the rest of the interior. The tailgate window has deeply tinted replacement glass and the windsheild is new. All of the small controls and dashboard extras, including the factory clock, are present. Seat belts have been fitted for safety. The door and interior panels are covered with new material that matches the seats. 

CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION

The car’s entire suspension is new: tubular control arms with new coil springs and power steering up front, new leaf springs with air shocks at the rear. The brakes, power front discs and rear drums, are also new and operate properly under hard application. All the suspension bushings are similarly new.
