The factory Super 1600cc engine was specially ordered and had 75
horsepower. California Blue plate 356, finished in the original
color combination of Ivory with Black upholstery. Originally
delivered through Archibald Frazer Nash (AFN), the official Porsche
importer in the United Kingdom, to the first owner, Jerald
Belenger. Factory options include Michelin tires, a 400mm steering
wheel, US bumpers, sealed beam headlights, and a tachometer in
miles.
The paintwork does have some patina with imperfections,
complemented by original glass, trim, and brightwork. The interior
has many original components, including a VDM steering wheel, VDO
instrumentation, and a period Porsche radio. The wheels are chrome
4.5" x 15" with Super hubcaps. The undercarriage is original,
though future attention will be required on the longitudinals and
battery box.
Mechanically powered with the matching 1600cc flat-four "Super"
engine (Type 1600S), rated at 75 horsepower, paired with a 4-speed
manual transmission (Type 644) with a four-wheel drum braking
system that has been recently rebuilt. This 356 is offered with the
Porsche Kardex and spare wheel. A rare opportunity to acquire a
running, driving, unrestored, numbers-matching 356A Super Coupe,
ready for immediate enjoyment or worthy of a future
restoration.
