This isn't your average third-gen Camaro-it's a full-throttle
tribute to the era of big hair and bigger horsepower, brought into
the modern age with a no-expense-spared LS swap. Starting with a
clean, 60,000-mile IROC-Z shell, Hawk Motorsports threw the book at
it and built a car that screams performance from bumper to
bumper.
Under the hood lives a snarling, cammed 6.2L LS3 rated at 489
horsepower and 440 lb-ft at the wheels, backed by a T56 Magnum
6-speed conversion and a Hawks Sick and Twisted cam kit. The LSX
swap harness, stainless headers, Holley mid-mount accessory drive,
and a cold air intake ensure this setup not only breathes fire but
does so reliably and with authority.
To keep that power planted, the suspension was completely
reengineered with Viking coilovers, UMI tubular control arms,
torque arm, trailing arms, and caster/camber plates. A Ford 8.8
rear end with 4.10 gears, 33-spline axles, and Wilwood 6-piston
front/4-piston rear brakes brings the whole thing to a dead stop
when the fun gets too real. Four-wheel disc brakes, power steering,
and a full Hawks gauge cluster round out the modernized driver
experience.
Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans
courtesy of Wizard Cooling, while the Hawks stainless steel exhaust
lets that cammed LS3 roar with pure bad intentions. Add in $70,000
in receipts, fresh gaskets throughout, and the IROC-Z's original
pedigree, and you've got a street machine built to destroy
stoplights and egos.
