1951 Indian Chief - Factory Experimental Model - One-of-a-Kind This
is likely the only known experimental 1951 Indian Chief to have
ever left the factory. A truly rare and historically significant
piece of American motorcycle history. Serial Number: C4 3000 BA
Stamped "EXP" on rear cylinder boss indicating experimental status
No frame number, consistent with Indian's process for experimental
bikes Frame features 1952-1953 design elements, not typical of
standard 1951 models Includes many hand-fabricated parts made by
Indian but never put into production due to financial issues at the
time Mechanical & Restoration Highlights: Full frame-off
restoration completed Engine cases split, crank checked, rod and
main bearings inspected Crankshaft re-trued, and motor/trans
rebuilt with new seals and gaskets Fitted with period-correct Amal
carburetor and 1952-53 style handlebar controls This is not just
another restored Indian - it's a genuine piece of prototype
development history, meticulously rebuilt and preserved. The bike
has been stored for over 10 years under a glass case in a living
room, pampered and protected. I've owned over 10 Indian Chiefs and
know these bikes inside and out. Please Note The Following
